Main Purpose of the Job :
The Structural Engineer will have demonstrable experience of project delivery in large diameter tunnelling structures, underground structures and underground pumping stations.
You will be expected to combine technical responsibilities and promote a collaborative approach and inspire your colleague to deliver projects to quality, budget and timescales.
Key Responsibilities / Duties :
Prepare designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and risk assessments for maintenance, refurbishment and new build schemes.
Obtain statutory approvals where needed.
Actively participate in the preparation of concept, scheme, and detailed design calculations and drawings for structural projects.
Undertaking structural engineering analysis and design
Ability to inspect works carried out on site and monitor quality and compliance with design drawings.
Be accountable for the timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings
Ensure all design work is carried out in accordance with Company’s quality standard procedures
Provide effective task management and monitor against agreed scope, programme and budget
Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of the project delivery
Be able to present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical individuals
Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
Essential Candidate Requirements :
Minimum Bachelors’ Degree in Civil / Structural Engineer from an internationally recognised university; Master’s Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering would be a distinct advantage.
Professional membership in civil / structural engineering would also be preferred
Minimum fifteen 15 years demonstrable experience in the design and review of deep underground pumping station structures incorporating structural steelwork, reinforced water retaining and precast concrete Design & Build elements
Demonstrable experience in the design and review of marine structures. Experience on design review of similar segmental tunnel is a must
Experienced in using analytical / design software such as Robot, Revit, Etabs, Staad, CSC, RAM, Tedds
Demonstrable experience of planning and monitoring project programmes, costs and resources ensuring delivery to time and budget
Excellent knowledge of current international codes and local regulations
IT and standard industry software skills, including knowledge of BIM
Ability to communicate confidently and professionally in English with all levels of staff and clients (written and verbal)
