The Biomedical Research Center at Qatar Universityisseekingapplicationsfor a research position in Biomedicalsciencesstarting from fall 2017.
Appointments may be attheAssistant,Associate or FullProfessor level, depending on qualifications.
The appointee will develop and lead an activebiomedicalresearchprogram,conducting cutting-edge researchusing advancedtechnologies, andattract substantial externalresearchfunding.
The ideal candidatewill be a biologist withextensiveexperience inrecent molecularresearches / techniques such asOMICs andNGS with deepunderstanding ofbasic bioinformatics and dataanalysis andwork veryclosely withmolecular / cell biologists.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead a biomedical research team to develop andimplementOMICSmolecularbiology tools and to support running researchactivitiesat BRC.
Support faculty and students through participatingineducationalprogramstraining students and postdoctoral fellows.
Participate in the design and execution ofcollaborativeresearchstudiesin biomedical research field.
Promote collaborative and interdisciplinary research inareasofpriorityfor the Center (Stem cell research, Metabolicandinfectiousdiseases).
Develop and support research collaborations and networkslinkingtheCenterwith the public and private sectors at thenational,regionalandinternational levels.
Foster academic and interdisciplinary researchlinkswiththerelevant departments and centers at the University throughavarietyofmechanisms including training workshops, researchseminars,inputintothe curriculum, mentorship opportunities forgraduateandundergraduate students.
Promote and communicate the work of the Center tothepublicthrougha variety of community outreach activities,includingworkshops,lecturespublications, etc.
Participates in the formulation and implementationoftheCenter’sstrategic plan in alignment with the strategic planofthe University.
PhD or equivalent degree in basic sciences.
Evidence of progressively responsible leadership experienceinasimilarwork environment for a minimum of three years.
A minimum of ten years of relevant research experience backedwithastrongtrack record of research productivity, at least 12highimpactpeerreviewed publication.
Strong productivity in experimental biology, with emphasis on OMICS and NGS.
Proven communication skills and ability to represent thecenteronthenational, regional and international levels.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal and administrative skills.
Expected to demonstrate excellence in interpersonalbehaviorsandbecommitted to effective collaboration with colleagues.
1 A three-year renewable contract.
