We are currently recruiting for a Chief Offshore Structural Engineer to be based in our Doha Office, State of Qatar
Primary objective :
The position will lead the offshore structural engineering service for current projects undertaken in Qatar.
Specific Accountabilities :
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks :
Manage projects within budget and time constraints.
Assist in sourcing new work and maintaining existing client base.
Preparation of proposals and estimation of manhour budgets.
Preparation of Scope of Work Documentation.
Manage and perform structural engineering designs to ensure project goals are achieved
Arrange and supervise engineering and design drafting staff / functions for offshore structural projects, including team building events, lunch and learn sessions.
Prepare / check structural calculations and reports in accordance with the relevant International Standards.
Drive productivity improvement through improved use of templates and standardised calculations.
Quality Assurance Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the relevant Quality Assurance system.
Safety Responsible for personal safety, safe working practices for themselves and the group and safe design outcomes
Key Skills / Personal Attributes :
Overall responsibility for managing the offshore structural group in Qatar
Proven leadership skills (Managed a team of 15 plus people)
Have very good communication and personal skills
Drive for excellent project outcomes, including cost effective budgets (fees and capital), quality and schedule.
A team player who is prepared to work hard
Essential Skills / Experience :
A minimum of 15 years experience in offshore structural engineering, at least 5 years brownfields design experience.
Relevant Engineering Degree, P. Eng or eligibility is preferred
Strong skills in technical execution and management of work
Strong communication and technical writing skills
Marketing development skills
Familiar with the use of SACS for local and global in-place assessment, fatigue analysis and lifting studies. Experience with SACS / USFOS for blast, pushover and ship impact assessments (linear / nonlinear) an advantage.
Experience with defining risk based inspections for offshore structures.
