Established in 1980, the College of Engineering offers programs in thefields of Architectural, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical andComputer Science engineering with the primary goal of preparing Qatariengineers with outstanding scientific and technical competencies toenable them to participate and contribute in the various developmentalaspects of the country.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesLeads innovation in the area of design and technology-enhanced pedagogyin teaching and learning and immersive technologies like VR and AR.

Thecoordinator works to engage the university community and providesstrategic leadership in creating institutional culture and capacity forinnovative design with emerging technologies.

The coordinator worksclosely with the university’s academic groups, faculty and IT inthe design, development, management and evaluation of new digitallearning initiatives with educational technologies.

In addition, thecoordinator will manage the multidisciplinary aspects in the collegesuch as the proposed Multidisciplinary Senior Design course.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibility :

  • Provide leadership in innovation for enhancing teaching and learning through the identification, evaluation, adoption, and integration of effective educational technology innovation
  • Develop outreach strategy to encourage faculty across the college (and university) in their teaching and mentoring
  • Promotes the integration of technology into the educational environments of the university.
  • Provide design consultation for individual faculty and academic units to advance innovative digital learning initiatives.
  • Provide faculty development offerings which foster collaboration and adoption of effective practices for design and digital learning.
  • Coordinate with the Information Technology Service (ITS) to ensure adequate technology infrastructure to meet goals of technology-enhanced curricula.
  • Supports and enables key initiatives and curriculum development programs via digital learning technologies and AR / VR learning environments.
  • Conduct and disseminate research and alaysis on emerging and immersive (VR / AR / MR) technologies, instructional design theories and approaches.
  • Engage the community across campus to accelerate knowledge sharing, experimentation and prototyping with mobile, VR / AR platforms.
  • Promote the integration of technology into the educational environment of the university.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with faculty throughout the university to provide pedagogical and technical consulting and training to design, develop projects that enrich teaching and learning through the use of immersive technologies.
  • Measuring the outcomes of the work and working on how these technologies are transforming learning.
  • Conduct research and evaluation plans for use of immersive learning products and vendors.
  • Coordinate and promote multidisciplinary collaboration in the college via research, student groups and design courses.
  • Manage the assessment strategy for multidisciplinary efforts in the design courses.
  • Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education technology or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Master’s degree in instructional design is preferred.
  • Three years of experience as an educational technologist in an academic setting is strongly preferred.
  • Broad understanding of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Competencies in learning technologies.
  • Ability to manage and collaborate on complex projects with diverse teams including administrators, faculty, instructors, grade teaching assistants, technologists, and instructional designers.
  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to higher education and addressing the challenges that it faces.
  • Demonstrated ability to be organized, balance priorities, and manage multiple projects.
