JOB SUMMARY :
The Analytics and Visualization Engineer is responsible for end-to-end designing, developing, and implementing rich, interactive and actionable data visualization products by working directly with clinical and non-
clinical staff to garner an understanding of clinical / operational data sets, eliciting requirements and turning them into actionable analytics and insights that improves performance and foster decision making and clinical outcomes.
The Analytics and Visualization Engineer liaises with leadership within Clinical and Corporate Services to improve performance by achieving strategic, tactical and operational goals.
As a part of the Analytics, Information Management which serves as an internal consulting function within Sidra, The Analytics and Visualization Engineer designs and develops initiatives that support effective decision making by leveraging people, processes, systems, and structures to transform raw data into timely, relevant and accurate information.
The incumbent also helps develop and execute Sidra’s information management strategy, standards, and roadmaps; model Sidra values and behaviors : Trust, Care, Teamwork, Transparency, Innovation and Efficiency, which in turn will ensure we deliver the highest standards of care to our patients.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Actively engages with Clinical Management Group (CMG) leaders to identify and model their analytics and reporting requirements and turn them into actionable insights that support decision making, improve performance and achieve Sidra’s strategic and operational goals
Responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and support of rich, interactive data visualization products with superior quality, and adherence to project delivery deadlines
Engages and collaboratively works with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) to support the Qatar Health Service Performance Agreement (HSPA) by designing and development of the agreed upon indicators
Supports Sidra’s accreditation goals by working closely with international bodies (JCI, Canadian Accreditation, and NSQIP) to develop and submit the required indicators for the accreditation process
Rapidly iterate, prototype, and implement visualizations that meet end-users visualization needs, considering composition, color, texture, and optimizing the depth and information density for the target user
Works closely with Data Engineers, Data Architects and ETL Engineers to continuously enhance the logical and physical design of the Enterprise Data-
warehouse (EDW) and Data Marts
Leverages Data Mining and Predictive Analytics models and algorithms to analyze complex data sets (both clinical and non-
clinical) with the eventual goal of fostering patient care, decision making and clinical outcomes
Actively works with the Decision Support team to design and build robust analytics products
Plays an active role in establishing and managing Data Governance and Master Data Management programs
Actively participates in the development, application, and documentation of Analytics processes, best practices and SLAs
Actively participates in building a high performing culture that promotes innovation, creativity and collaboration
Provides expert advice on trends in healthcare IT, clinical systems, Analytics and Big Data
Participates in an on call rotation to support the Information Management solutions
Provides mentoring / coaching to other team members
Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies
Performs other related duties as assigned
In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS SELECTION CRITERIA :
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Information Design, Interaction Design, User Experience, Human Computer Interaction, Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar field
5+ years’ experience working in healthcare IT, analytics and / or business intelligence
5+ years’ experience in designing and building Dashboards and reports using Data Visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Qlikview, etc.
and reporting tools (e.g. Business Objects, Cognos, Oracle OBIEE etc.)
Solid understanding of data warehouse methodology and BI / Analytics, including data modeling, data integration / ETL processes and technologies
Expert SQL Skills
Sound understanding of Advanced Analytics and Data Mining concepts and technologies
Demonstrated ability to lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality customer focused outcomes
Experience working with senior leadership and translating data requirements into meaningful insights and analytical products
Excellent business knowledge including strategic planning and business processes
Comprehensive multi-layered understanding of hospital’s clinical, operational and financial processes and information delivery systems, tools and standards
Demonstrated highly developed oral and written communication skills, particularly in reporting, public presentation and consultation, and the ability to negotiate and communicate with relevant internal and external stakeholders
Ability to develop solutions independently with limited or no engagement from manager or peers
Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team in a matrix based organizational structure
Fluency in written and spoken English is a must
Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Information Design, Interaction Design, User Experience, Human Computer Interaction, Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, or similar field
7+ years’ experience with Oracle SQL
7+ years’ experience in designing and building Dashboards and reports using Tableau, and Business Objects
