Job Description

The Total group wishes to reach the 2 C objective of the paris agreement. In this context and taking into account existing skills in qatar, a study of the precipitation of calcium carbonate in microalgue culture will be started with Qatar University.

In order to optimize this phenomenon of sequestration of co2, and algal biomass production, several experiments will have to be taken from the laboratory scale to the pilot scale in situ which will require regular analytical monitoring.

in addition the Total group, responsible for its wastes, sets up a relevant monitoring policy. A method of innovative bio monitoring will be tested on offshore platforms with valvometers.

The valvometer is a biosensor in which the opening and closing of bivalve (here oysters) is measured in continuous across microelectrodes.

The signal, correlated to the quality of the water, is sent by wifi which allows direct interpretation and monitoring of the environment to the other end of the world.


The first objective will be to implement the analytical monitoring of the relevant parameters in algae culture, and the regular analysis of these parameters and interpretation in consultation with the local and Total group experts.

this will be done in relation with local partners having world class analytical equipment.

The 2nd objective will be to go regularly on the 2 off shore platforms instrumed with valvometers and probes, to maintain

the probes, and to sample some bivalves that will be analyzed at Qatar University.


  • participate in the definition of the protocol of analyzes,
  • perform sampling in micro algae culture, at Qatar University laboratory and in situ culture basins;
  • realize the analyzes;
  • interpret the results.
  • communicate with Total and Qatar University experts to optimize the precipitation of calcium carbonate but also the production of algae biomass.
  • go to offshore platforms, make monthly maintenance of analytical probes and take bivalve samples to be returned to the Qatar University laboratory.
  • Context and environment

    The selected candidate will receive a VIE allowance according to the Business France rates and the subsidiary will provide a furnished accommodation ( flatshare ).
