Job Description

The Facilities Specialist I, in Building Operations and HSSE at Texas A&M University at Qatar is responsible for, under direct supervision, assisting in the management of facilities and related services and programs.

The position specializes in various aspects within the full spectrum from preventative maintenance to construction as well as services related to facility use (ie : audio / visual systems, building proctor, and after-

hours emergency response. Supporting all aspects of a full-service facility management program to ensure a safe, healthy and comfortable work environment for employees and visitors.

Specializing in facility related assets that are evaluated for reuse, return to Qatar Foundation, or disposal. Particular attention is paid to projects focused on organizing and disposing of materials stored in exit pathways, prohibited storage locations, or other locations that are deemed undesirable.

Required Education and Experience :

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or facilities construction.
  • Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills :

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications, audio / visual systems.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Must be able to promptly respond in person, on site, to after-hours building emergencies
  • Preferred Education and Experience :

  • Two years of related experience in equipment logistics, management, and disposal
  • Experience with Qatar Foundation materials management processes.
  • Familiarity with offsite storage and disposal facilities
  • Preferred Licenses and Certifications :

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of inventory management processing and inventory tracking and disposal.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Assists with allocation of furniture and equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of furnishings and equipment.
  • Assists with the coordination of and moves furniture, furnishings, and equipment.
  • Specializes in various aspects of a full-service facility management program (ie : grounds, mechanical systems, etc.).
  • Coordinates or performs basic repairs to buildings, equipment, and infrastructure which may require operating a vehicle to perform duties.
  • Initiates Material Disposal Process with Qatar Foundation for outdated furnishings and unneeded equipment.
