Maintain client confidentiality
Respond to medical / health problems presented by clientsincluding history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment andreferral as appropriate.
Provide management ofacute, chronic and complex conditions in line with agreed protocolsand / or best practice guidelines.
Provideappropriate health promotion and preventative health care advise toclients.
Order diagnostic tests asappropriate, in keeping with best practice guidelines and withawareness of costs involved.
Refer patients toother providers as appropriate and while acting as agatekeeper.
Be responsible for appropriateprescribing, with accurate and up to date knowledge of medications,dosages, drug interactions and side effects.
Provide low level procedural skills, including but notlimited to injections, immunizations, suturing of minor wounds,dressings, skin cancer management, intravenouscannulation.
Perform pre-employment medicalexaminations when required.
Be aware of andable to manage the delivery of primary care in an occupationalsetting.
Actively communicate and coordinatecare of clients with colleagues, specialist services and alliedhealth professionals to ensure best quality of care is delivered tostaff.
Record and maintain accurate, adequateand relevant patient records using the established practiceprotocols and computerized medical records system includingspecialist referrals, previous health and family history,prescriptions, investigations, treatment, diagnostic results,registers and recalls
Be able and willing tosee client within agreed time frames.
Provideafter hours and / or on call services as rostered, includingresponding to the emergency mobile phone
Ensure clinic records, reports and letters are completedwithin acceptable time frames.
Takeresponsibility and control for casework co-ordination.
Proven ability to work under pressure to defined tighttimescales and budget.
