Job Overview :
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Pricipal Contracts Specialist will provide support to all aspects of prime contract management and adminstration encountered during the execution phase of large-scale, complex engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) projects.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities :
Contract administration of allocated projects, dealing with all commercial and contract activities associated with the prime contract either independently or in support of a Contract Manager for larger, more complex projects
Governance of commercial policies, processes and procedures to ensure that all commercial activities are executed in strict compliance with McDermott’s operating principles, standards and values (as captured within McDermott’s UniFi system);
Manage and maintain effective and accurate records of all project contractual and commercial documentation;
Monitoring of contractual correspondence including preparation of letters and contractual notices in accordance with requirements of the prime contract
Support Project Director and Contracts Manager to create awareness of prime contract requirements within project team
Support preparation of technical and commercial aspects of change order proposals, inclusive of packaging final submissions to Client
Participate in technical and commercial discussions with Client to ensure timely alignment on change orders
Assist with internal reporting of all commercial and contractual issues;
Comprehend, analyze and interpret terms and conditions of contract / subcontract and articulates contract / subcontract obligations to other stakeholders;
Administer contract close out requirements
Interface with key corporate support functions to ensure timely release of performance guarantees including retention
Essential Qualifications and Education :
Minimum 8+ years of project execution experience in the oil and gas and / or construction industries (at least 5 of which will have been within a contracts or commercial role)
Prior experience working with National Oil Companies (NOCs) within the Middle East desirable
University degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Business Management, Business Law or similar
Relevant post graduate qualification and / or contracts management industry accreditation desirable
