Job Description

The College of the North Atlantic - Qatar is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Network and Telecom Supervisor in the Information Technology Department.

Reporting to the IT Operations, Section Head, the Network and Telecom Supervisor must be a proven leader with the skills and expertise necessary to support the Information Technology Department in fully implementing the College’s mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities :

This position requires an experienced and enthusiastic individual who will supervise the design, implementation and monitoring of CNA-Q’s network and telecommunications infrastructure services to meet business requirements and, functional and technical specifications.

The candidate will also, oversee the maintenance, operations, and continuous improvement of the network, telecom and Audio Visual (AV) hardware software at CNA-Q, and to ensure continued availability of services and equipment.

Candidates should have an outstanding record of experience working in Network & Telecommunications, preferably in a supervisory or senior level role, and possess the qualifications necessary to be successful in the role of Network and Telecom Supervisor.

The candidate will plan, design and analyze network upgrades and expansions to fulfil business needs in collaboration with Network and telecom Engineer and AV Engineer.

Candidates will oversee the support and maintenance of LANs, WANs, network segments, telephone / VoIP services, connectivity, internet and intranet systems, and to maintain CNA-Q’s network functionality.

S / he will also, oversee the assembly, configuration, and maintenance of wiring closets, cabling, consoles, firewalls, switches, routers and other hardware, and to support CNA-Q’s technical infrastructure.

Candidates will evaluate, propose and manage network and telecom system changes and upgrades, protect access to network drives, file servers and PeopleSoft functionality, and monitor technical support for all College audio-visual (AV) and visual-conferencing (VC) equipment, to ensure proper operation and maintenance.

Candidates will ensure coordination with the relevant stakeholders, gather information required to diagnose network and AV related problems, and ensure these problems are solved in a timely and efficient manner.

S / he will oversee the maintenance of the network to ensure continuous reliability and availability of services, communicate college-wide service interruptions and issues with the IT Operations Section Head on a regular basis, and review purchasing orders for service support tools and equipment.

Furthermore, candidates will ensure that regular status reports are completed and communicated to meet the planning needs of the IT Department.

The Network and Telecom Supervisor will provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates to contribute to the development of employees and must have excellent organizational, leadership, decision-making, delegation and communications skills as well as the ability to act as a mentor to team members.


Education and Certifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required.

Experience :

Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in IT or related field.

Language :

Fluency in written and spoken English language.

Fluency in written and spoken Arabic language is preferred.

Other Required Skills :

Highly motivated individual with strong leadership skills and a desire to achieve organizational success. Ambitious and self-motivated team player with a high standard of professional integrity.

Reliable and dependable with a desire to lead by example is required. A proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential.

The candidate should have the ability to anticipate change and effectively manage quality and risk at all times. Effective resource management is essential.

Effective problem solving skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of the organization is also required.

Candidates should demonstrate explanatory communication and interpersonal skills. A Commitment to ongoing training and continuous professional development is desirable.

Fluency in English language is required. The ability to speak Arabic is an asset.
