At Qatar Petroleum, we are committed to one thing aboveall : Excellence.DepartmentNON-OPERATED OIL DEVELOPMENTPrimary purpose of jobSenior Specialist engaged in planning, supervising, coordinating and controlling the collection, analysis and evaluation of petrophysical data necessary to predict the presence of hydrocarbons (oil & gas) in wells drilled, for calculations of oil and gas reserves and for reservoir studies in order to assist in formulating appropriate field development plans.
Provides technical expertise and advice in the acquisition, analysis and interpretation of all petrophysical data for the PSA field, including open and cased hole log data, production logging, coring and core analysis.
Experience & SkillsAt least 15 years varied industry experience in an operational environment (operating and service company) with 1 to 2 years of wellsite experience and 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience.
Required to be a recognized authority in his discipline with detailed academic knowledge integrated with significant practical experience.
In addition, the incumbent is required to have an in-depth knowledge of the other disciplines within the department.
Reservoir geology, field development as well as integrated study experience will be a definite advantage.Be fully conversant and have working knowledge of all relevant software applications in his discipline.
Additionally, a working understanding of the software used by the other disciplines in the team is required.Ability to independently perform analysis and interpretation of log data obtained by service company / contractors, including wireline logs, LWD and production logs.
Good knowledge of coring operation as well as core analysis both routine and special (SCAL) analysis.
Ability to integrate core and log data with other sub-surface information to support the team in constructing robust reservoir models.
Successful track record in planning, organizing and execution of significant studies and projects.Due to the complex nature of the job, substantial self-reliance and the ability to work with a high degree of independence are required.
Ability to integrate disparate ambiguous data and analyses from a variety of sources and disciplines into a coherent working synopsis.
A fundamental pre-requisite of the job is a comprehensive understanding and a clear demonstrable ability to optimally handle uncertainty.
Be able to identify, source and validate primary engineering data.Be able to communicate effectively with other disciplines identifying what information at what time and at what accuracy is required.
Be able to communicate specialist conclusions to non-discipline staff in a persuasive and competent manner.Have a proven ability to work effectively in teams in order to efficiently challenge operating joint venture teams.
The ability to identify the key leveraging variables in complex situations frequently involving multiple disciplines.Manage the sub-surface uncertainties through the anticipation of alternatives, quantifying exposure and maximising reward.
Due to the operational nature of the position, the incumbent may be on site, or on call, for extended periods.
The incumbent will need the mental rigour to deal with frequent disruptions outside working hours and to make optimal operational decisions regardless of the nature or timing of the disruption.EducationB.Sc.
in Science / Engineering.
Advanced degree would be an advantage.
