The Highway Inspector isassigned to various phases of the highway work and related works with animportant part in assuring the quality of work in the finished project.
He / shewill be the eyes and ears of the ARE and the RE to ensure compliance with thedrawings and specification of the works.
He / she shall be familiar with theplans, specifications, and construction methods for the phases of the work towhich he has been assigned.
Ensure that allconstruction works are performed in strict accordance with the plans andspecifications.
Maintain a detaileddiary of the day’s work activities, issues work approved or rejected, hours ofoperation, labour and equipment used, and sign at the end of each day asdirected by the ARE.
Interface with thepublic and stakeholders adjacent to the work to mitigate the constructionimpacts.
Coordinate with thecontractor’s foreman in charge of the work on a daily basis to advise on theproper execution of the work.
Coordinate with theother disciplines inspectors and arrange for sampling and testing ofsatisfactorily completed work, and quality assurance testing of suspectmaterials.
Coordinate with theSurveyors to check the line and grade of ready work and completed work forconformance with the plans and specifications.
Report questionablemethods of operation by the Contractor to the ARE or the RE.
Report to the ARE or REany failure of the Contractor to perform the work as per the drawings andspecifications.
Process the InspectionRequests and maintain records of their status.
Maintain detailedrecords of work performed by the contractor in case the work is performed on aDay Works basis.
Act positively andparticipate in all health and safety issues at the site, as required by theAssistant Resident Engineer and the project safety representatives.
Act professionally butfirm in dealings with the Contractor.
Diploma in CivilEngineering or equivalent with minimum of seven (7) years of demonstrableexperience in all aspects of road, highway construction supervision on majorroad, highway and general infrastructure projects preferably in the Gulfregion.
Must possess the abilityto read working drawings and related specifications, and capable of enforcingsuch specifications.
Must be fully computerliterate and able to utilise computer technology to access data, maintainrecords, generate reports, and any project specific engineering andconstruction relevant software.
Good written and oral communication, and interpersonalskills, as well as a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the projectteam.
