Summary
The High Voltage Electrician installs, alters, maintains, and repairs high voltage electrical systems and equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
Locate and repair defects in electrical systems
Review accuracy of work reports
Recommend improvements and revisions to current maintenance procedures
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless service
Read and work from drawings and specifications, and use graphic instruction such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids
Comply with all electrical codes
Work under pressure to handle significant problems and tasks which come up simultaneously and / or unexpectedly
Exercise independent initiative and judgment in accordance with accepted practices
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of 4160 high voltage power generator systems, amperage, frequency, and poser factors
Skill in locating and repairing defects in electrical systems, installing load break elbows, high voltage terminating, splicing, and service grounding
Knowledge of safety principles and using personal protective equipment
Additional knowledge and skill requirements may vary by assignment
Experience & Education
Minimum five (5) years of high and / or medium voltage experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Shall have completed an approved DOD or commercial equivalent school or apprenticeship in the subject.
Experience with airfield lighting and / or UPS preferred

Physical Requirements / Working Environment
Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel
Ability to travel domestically and internationally
