Provide a high standard ofindividual counselling, which may involve variety of brief and / orlong-term interventions determined in collaboration with thestudent to meet goals such as academic success, personal growth anddevelopment, health and well-being, self-advocacy andempowerment.
Establish and maintain rapportwith students to ensure effective and supportive workingrelationships offered in a timely manner and safe space.
Maintain confidential case records in accordance withprofessional standards and in keeping with college guidelinesensure records are excluded from all other student academicrecords.
Participate in regular caseconsultation in liaison with other counsellors to identify andlearn from trends in presenting problems.
Support and maintain academic support initiatives such asthe Peer Tutoring Program and student success workshops tocontribute to student academic achievement and professionaldevelopment.
Promote positive mental healthand well-being through campus-wide initiatives and workshops toraise awareness of issues that students may experience and thesupport available to them.
Promoteself-advocacy and act as an advocate for and with students on acase-by-case basis by raising student awareness of their rights andresponsibilities, college policies and procedures and availableresources.
Provide consultation services toFaculty, Employees, Deans and executive regarding concerns relatedto student success and well-being.
Contributeto the development of policies and procedures that impact studentsand provide advice on student well-being considerations.
Recommend service improvements and contribute to newprocedures to benefit students.
Provideanonymous data on take-up and feedback of the service forcontribution to Student Affairs reporting requirements.
Adhere to the professional code of ethics in all areas ofpractice.
Maintain knowledge and expertise ofemerging and current issues in counselling theory and practicethrough ongoing professional development to ensure students receivean excellent service.
