JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT :

Develops business through insurance adjusters, customers, and other sources to assure an adequate sales volume. Provides a reasonable department operating profit, and maintains certain customer satisfaction standards while controlling expenses.

Directs the activities of body shop employees in performing body repairs, including meeting time schedules and productivity levels and maintaining quality standards while maintaining a safe, clean environment and a professional atmosphere.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Accurately estimate the cost of repairs in order to establish credibility and rapport with customers.
  • Work closely with Sales Manager and the Service Manager.
  • Establish rapport with financial services representatives so that agreement can be reached on needed repairs to be covered by financial services.
  • Responsible for staying current regarding financial services coverage, for estimating processes, and for training the Body Shop team members in these skills.
  • Develop plans for the department and monitor progress toward achieving departmental goals in the areas of excellent service and profitability.
  • Oversee the work of the Body Shop team members and strive to increase the volume of work by developing the shop’s reputation for excellence and quality.
  • COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS :

    Internal : Senior Service Manager, Workshop Supervisor, Team Leaders, Technicians, Autobody Technicians and Painters.

    External : Customers

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB :

    QUALIFICATIONS : Degree / Diploma - preferably Automotive / Mechanical Engineering

    EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in managing the Body Shop of an automotive dealership
  • Experience with P&L
  • Proven experience in resource planning and deployment.
  • KNOWLEDGE

  • General knowledge of automotive systems
  • Knowledge of the preparation, processing, and interpretation of repair orders.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems and repair techniques (manufacturing paint finishes)
  • Knowledge of warranty guidelines and ability to relate warranty guidelines to warranty repair orders
  • SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to estimate costs and price of needed vehicle repairs and to train team members in this ability.
  • Ability to maintain quality control on Body Shop repairs.
