Qatar Petroleum (QP) is a state-owned public corporation established byEmiri Decree No. 10 in 1974. It is responsible for all phases of the oiland gas industry in the State of Qatar.

The principal activities of QP, its subsidiaries and joint ventures arethe exploration, production, local and international sale of crude oil,natural gas and gas liquids, refined products, synthetic fuels,petrochemicals, fuel additives, fertilizers, liquefied natural gas(LNG), steel and aluminium.

QP’s strategy of conducting hydrocarbon exploration and development isthrough Exploration and Production Sharing Agreements (EPSA) andDevelopment and Production Sharing Agreements (DPSA) concluded withmajor international oil and gas companies.

The operations and activities of QP and its affiliates are conducted atvarious onshore locations, including Doha, Dukhan and the Mesaieed andRas Laffan Industrial Cities, as well as offshore areas, including HalulIsland, offshore production stations, drilling platforms and the NorthField.

Primary purpose of job

Manage the daily activities of an allocated response base. Identify and assess the hazards and risks of potential incidents in their operational area.

Command emergency response teams as well as controlling and working along with local authorities, contractors, international organisations and volunteers during larger operations.

Conduct annual program and reviews of staff and contractors’ training and exercises, to ensure response readiness commitment.

Lead, guide and mentor Response Base staff in all aspects of oil pollution control. Act as technical advisor to QP, JV’s and State entities and any other relevant part as required.

Experience & Skills

  • Excellent communication skills and high leadership qualities.
  • Good management skills are essential for this position.
  • 10 year oil pollution response experience both on and offshore.
  • Education

    BSc or HND in Mechanical, Environmental or Marine related disciplines.

  • Certified to IMO level Management of Oil Spill Incidents.
  • Trained in NEBOSH, IOSH or other internationally recognised safety standards.
