Department

Commercial Optimization team, specifically the Oil department.

Primary Purpose Of Job

To oversee the commercial interests of QP and the State of Qatar, embedded in a complex range of existing fiscal and shareholding agreements, related to Oil ventures (the Assets ), using effective asset management commercial processes.

1. Asset Commercial Oversight Implement an effective regular internal asset commercial review process to monitor and report on the commercial performance of the assigned Assets.

Identify, report and recommend solutions for material non-compliance issues to the Head of Oil Commercial, including advice on the commercial impact and / or risks of such non-

  • compliance. Prepare periodic reports capturing the commercial performance and profitability of the assigned Assets. Review drafts of Work Program and Budgets submitted by the JVs, challenge assumptions, and assimilate QP’s main objectives and expectations;
  • 2. Internal Focal Point Participate in commercial meetings and presentations arranged by operators and IOC partners. Draft presentations to be made to operators and partners to pass on QP’s position on strategies, initiatives, solutions to conflicts and issues, business proposals and opportunities for enhancing the returns from the Assets.

    Act as the focal point for all commercial matters internally (QP); 3. Knowledge Database & Monitoring Systems Establish an effective management information system for monitoring the commercial performance of the assigned Assets, including collection, storage and analysis of all pertinent data, and capturing key value drivers and KPIs.

    Develop economic models or / and get these developed (by the specialists in Optimization Economics), for forecasting and verification of actual results.

    4. New Initiatives and Dispute Resolution Identify and evaluate asset enhancement concepts / initiatives, synergies, risks and commercial disputes.

  • Participate in the related negotiations, help draft amendments or new agreements, and follow-up on the implementation of such agreements;
  • 5. Production and Cost Allocation Principles Review, evaluate, and propose options to Head of Oil Commercial, for allocating production, royalties, costs and profits.

  • Challenge the costs and allocations made by the operators; 6. Board Resolutions Review and comment on the commercial resolutions of the relevant LNG venture’s board / management committees;
  • 7. Support to Other Divisions / Departments Act as the internal focal point for the Assets, and support contract negotiations, development of economic models, and development of new agreements;
  • and 8. Building Relationship and Expertize Maintain relationships and effective communication channels between the various divisions in the department, and key internal stakeholders, to share data, knowledge, expertise, work experiences, and lessons learned.

    Develop and cultivate working relations with external stakeholders such as partners and operators.

    Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in upstream oil exploration / production management, drilling, enhanced oil recovery.
  • Engineering experience that has then moved into a career path focusing on upstream commercial matters; like project economics, oil / gas reservoirs evaluation, business development, contract negotiation, legal document drafting and influencing skills.

  • Experience in working within a large, preferably multicultural, international organization.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, presentation and computing skills.
  • Education

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, science, or business economics from an accredited university, preferably in a field related to petroleum engineering.
  • Postgraduate qualification (MSc. or MBA) is advantageous
