DohaSummary : The Head of Broadcast Systems leads the activities and staff in the Broadcast systems section and ensures that all systems and services delivered with highest quality and efficiency as per industry standards and best practices.
He is also responsible to manage all resources within the section including manpower, equipment and services and should motivate staff to achieve excel and work optimally while fostering an environment that encourages pro activity and synergy.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities : Hire and manage Broadcast System Section staff.Preparation and timely delivery of required status information and reports.
Develop relationships to collaborate effectively within and across Broadcast Systems Section and other sections & departments in the Network.
Set team objectives and KPI’s and evaluate their performance.Plan for section required annual budget.Maintain the relationship with vendors to provide best service through SLA’s.
Monitor the performance of all station equipment and systems.Initiate service recovery actions in the event of observed quality reduction in accordance with the recovery and escalation proceduresDeploy new services and reallocate resources to maintain productivity during transitions requiring reduced staffing levels.
Direct preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with the supplied maintenance procedures.In the event of a disaster, take active steps and / or give advice to maintain the continuity of system performance.
Manage time sensitive projects including realistic scheduling, critical path issue resolution, and on time delivery within budget.
Re engineered facility roles and responsibilities to provide clear guidance to personnel, increase focus on operations, and improve morale.
Review and approve Specifications of Engineering Section's Projects, manages systems engineering schedules, related cost, feasibility calculations and risk performance.
Should have a very pro active attitude to change and be able to communicate that with the team. This will involve a large amount of change in both work processes and technology.
Full responsibility for studio and engineering production within the station and performance to Broadcast Industry standards.
Analyze systems and advise on improvements, upgrades and / or new purchases. Assists in developing standard procedures and other documentations for broadcast equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by his / her superiors / DLMJob Requirements / Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Electronics / Telecommunication / Computer / Broadcast Engineering.
ITIL certified is an advantage10 years of professional experience in IT / Broadcast Engineering and relevant systems operation / maintenance.
Minimum 3 years working at supervisory levelTV equipment operation and installation skillsArabic / English Languages.Knowledge in conventional and modern broadcast technologies (Audio / Video Routers, TX automation systems, Play out Technologies and On Air Graphics)Knowledge in broadcast infrastructure and understanding for Broadcast system cabling installation requirements.
Knowledge in Television systems and theory, analogue and digital communications and digital television transmission.Knowledge in Video compression including MPEG 2 / MPEG 4 and SD / HD.
Knowledge in production and post production including studio cameras, ENG cameras, and non linear editing, audio / vision mixer.
Knowledge in emerging technologies within the broadcast industryKnowledge in complex technical drawings and reports
