Job Overview :

Provide supervision, strong leadership, co-ordination and instructions to the maintenance team Foreman to ensure all the departments activities are carried out in a safe, efficient, cost effective and timely manner.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities :

  • Allocate duties to maintenance Foreman and supervise them to ensure they are completing them in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintaining close liaison with and seek guidance from the Maintenance Superintendent personnel. Etc. as appropriate, prior to making important decisions.
  • Identify and communicate to the Maintenance Superintendent any resource issues, or other concerns that have the potential to negatively affect safety, productivity, cost efficiency and timely execution of the department / project activities
  • To constantly look ahead in order to plan workforce activities and resources to identify and mitigate potential delays / problems that will impact on production activities, increase the cost of non-quality, etc.
  • Ensuring maintenance of equipment is carried out in a timely manner and as per the original manufactures recommendations, company procedures, etc.
  • Champion and drive continual improvement of the Tabware CMMS use.
  • Challenge requisitions for spare parts that are not being replaced as a result of fair wear and tear.
  • Investigate root cause of premature spare parts failure in order to identify and implement actions to reduce the potential for similar failures in the future.
  • Timely and accurate entry of direct reports times into the FT / Kronos system

  • Ensure the delinquent work order report for major equipment is updated each week and action is taken if equipment needs to be taken out of service due to delinquent maintenance / inspection, etc.
  • Set exemplary standards of behavior and lead by example in adhering to these standards at all times.
  • Ensure that when activities / tasks are delegated to sub ordinates, they are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound (SM.A.R.T)
  • Be capable of reading relevant technical literature, e.g. drawings, parts manuals, etc., and applying information to the task.
  • Implement and encourage open communication and collaboration with all inter and other departments / projects personnel in order to jointly overcome any difficulties that may be encountered during execution of the department / project activities.
  • Remain abreast of relevant company procedures and ensure compliance by department personnel.
  • Do not state or accept that’s the way we always done it’ argument, i.e. constantly challenge if we are doing our job as safely, efficiently and cost effectively as possible.
  • Hold subordinates accountable for timely and compliant delivery of their tasks and responsibilities.
  • Identify and highlight achievement of personnel who are performing either below, or above and beyond expectations.
  • Be approachable, maintain an open door’ policy for subordinates to discuss their concerns, or ideas for improvements.
  • Allocate time and energy into supporting ongoing QHSES related programs and provide leadership to subordinates to ensure similar participation.
  • Identify and address training needs of personnel within the team to ensure continual improvement and versatility of the workforce.
  • Maintain a can do’ attitude for our customers and ensure all our team do the same.
  • Ensuring that all their personnel are treated in an ethical manner and encourage them to report any concerns they have through the appropriate channels.
  • Strive to maximize equipment availability for production activity.
  • Strive to achieve reduction of maintenance related costs and increased serviceable life of company owned assets.
  • Assisting to meeting or exceed productivity of projects.
  • Generating goodwill within the work place and improving target milestones of projects.
