AECOM are offering a great opportunity to join our growing and talented Buildings team in our multi-disciplinary office in Doha.
You will join a busy design team in the Buildings division of AECOM and the varied workload currently includes residential, transport, industrial and mixed use projects.
Assist the design team to enhance the Design Excellence through proper project delivery
Assist the project engineer in managing small and medium sized projects or sections of larger projects to achieve the client’s objectives to cost and programme.
Provide technological input and assist in supervising technical input by others within the team.
Assist in the management of a small team of junior engineers and CAD technicians within projects.
Carry assignments to completion with considerable independence in accordance with project objectives, professional standards, policies and procedures.
Assist design managers on projects when required with the various design management tasks.
Review mechanical design including HVAC, Firefighting and wet utilities
Provide construction clash resolution and workarounds
Involve in interface utilities / buildings interface management
Support construction supervision where required
Communicate with relevant authorities
Involve in testing and commissioning activities where required
Perform and develop the mechanical systems not limited to LPG / NG, HVAC, Fire Protection, Drainage, Medical Gases, BMS, Fuel, and Cold & Hot Water Supply including Solar System.
Perform system calculations and studies for all mechanical systems.
Ensure effective coordination occurs with other disciplines such as Architecture, Electrical, ELV and Structural Engineering.
Design of all assigned project mechanical installation drawings for compliance with all company and project instructions (Schematic diagrams, installation details, etc.)
Supervises a team of Mechanical Draftsmen.
Attend all coordination and progress meetings and present options and solutions as required.
Conduct site visits and assessment, as required to execute design work when required.
Minimum 7 years of experience working in an engineering design consultancy, developing design calculations and modelling / drawing of Public Health and HVAC systems with GCC experience.
Must be proficient in sustainable design with good knowledge of Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS).
Proficient experience in the Design and construction of mechanical facilities (and associated equipment) related to infrastructure facilities including building MEP, water / wastewater pump station, wastewater treatment plants, piping systems for water distribution, wastewater collection, drainage, gas, district cooling, etc is beneficial.
Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations.
Apply sound engineering principles in the development of design solutions and the production of contract documentation.
Able to grasp complex concepts in limited time and make decisions while being mindful of long term implications, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active manner.
A good level of computer literacy with experience in software’s such as IES, Hevacomp, HAP Carrier or other thermal modelling software is desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications. Mainly Excel.
Working knowledge of document production using Autodesk software. Revit is used extensively by AECOM and knowledge of BIM tools is required.
Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
Communication with design teams (internal and external), clients and project managers.
Thorough knowledge of local authority requirements and regulations and can obtain project related approvals
Experience in preparing technical reports, specifications and a client presentation is preferable.
Familiar with other ELC and ELV building services systems.
Proven background working for international engineering consultancies.
Ability to work with and manage teams remotely.
Proven related Authority approvals / regulations experience.
Middle East working experience
A Bachelor's degree in a Mechanical Engineering.
