Main Purpose of the Job :
We are looking for a Design Implementation Coordinator to support us on a large tunnelling and water project in Qatar.
Key Responsibilities / Duties :
Demonstrated experience in proactively focusing on meeting client and project requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner
An ability to proactively manage project-related issues
Strong experience working with and co-ordinating multi-disciplined teams
Strong experience in working to tight timelines and interfacing with many entities to develop a co-ordinated response to contractor’s submissions
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with Contractor, Client’s Team and internal Design Review Teams
Experienced in maintaining active project status reports for entire project team
Demonstrated experience in performing reconciliation and closeout process for all technical requirements prior to construction
Ability to process variation orders and change orders
Experience in maintaining, with the assistance of a document controller, electronic and hard copy of correspondence, reports and drawings for multiple phases of design
Strong experience with scheduling and planning meetings and teleconferencing with remote resource pools
Demonstrated experience in verifying and initiating payment for design stage invoices in a timely manner, and working with contractor’s designer to reconcile any invoicing discrepancies
Essential Candidate Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University with Professional Qualifications from a recognized International Institution and with a professional career development record all as approved by the Engineer
Membership of an accredited, recognized Project Management Institution would be a distinct advantage.
Minimum 15 years demonstrable experience, of which 10 years in a managerial capacity, in design (concept to detail design) and design-
and-build projects, with construction experience of combined : large diameter subaqueous outfall tunnel, marine work, major underground structures, and large capacity pump station projects
Experience must include all Health & Safety and Environmental Protection aspects of the construction and operation of similar large diameter tunnelling projects
Must demonstrate his / her aptitude to coordinate the implement of the design into the construction as a liaison between the design review team and the field supervision team and vis-a-versa
Must demonstrate the extent of his / her knowledge and experience in respect of international construction / contract law, contract administration procedure, staff management, hold a perceptive understanding of Public Authority procedures and be capable of interpreting statutes, codes, ordinances and regulations
Must demonstrate experience in respect of the technical proposals, evaluation and constructability, technology deployment and solving technical problems that may arise during construction
Strong leadership quality to lead and motivate a large team of multi-disciplined
Professional supervision staff in a design-and-build project environment
