Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities) The British Embassy, Doha has a vacancy for a Senior Commercial Attaché, Grade C4 (L).
Main Purpose of the Job : The Department for International Trade (DIT) is the British Government Department responsible for providing operational support for exports and facilitating inward and outward investment.
DIT is helping the government reach its 2020 £1 trillion export and £1.5 trillion foreign direct investment targets. The jobholder will be leading on the key deliverables of the British Embassy’s trade policy agenda to enhance the UK-
QATAR trade and investment relationship as well as supporting DIT’s World Cup 2022 campaign. This is a demanding job requiring strategic thinking and delivering at pace, often working to tight deadlines.
The jobholder will be responsible for identifying UK-QATAR market access issues and for co-ordination of the annual ministerial bilateral, the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO), and working with stakeholders in the private and public sectors, to deliver beneficial outcomes.
The successful candidate will be a key part of DIT’s World Cup campaign delivery team to identify emerging business opportunities in non-
infrastructure areas and support UK companies access those opportunities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities : Drive forward delivery of priority actions for the JETCO by building successful working relationships with UK and QATARI Government Ministries Work in partnership with the DIT Gulf, Middle East Team to deliver the next JETCO Identify and map significant market access issues by building relationships and engaging with stakeholders across the public and private sector.
Maintain an up- to- date brief and develop an engagement strategy to address key market access issues. Work closely with the DIT Sport Economy team and the wider network to map out and build a pipeline of business opportunities generated from the World Cup in non-
infrastructure sector particularly in Sports Tech / Smart Cities and Food and Drinks. Provide advice, support and guidance to UK firms seeking to establish or expand exports in Qatar.
Promote specific business opportunities, facilitate activities, such as trade missions and matchmaking events, designed to build the UK brand and grow UK exports especially around the World Cup and its legacy.
Working in partnership with colleagues and stakeholders in the UK and QATAR to support the delivery of high profile events and VIP visits Maintain detailed records and documents Delivery of any other duties as requested by the Line Manager and the Director of Trade Key Competencies : Delivering at Pace : Effectiveness in this area means focusing on delivering timely performance with energy and taking responsibility and accountability for quality outcomes.

negotiable salary of QR 22,590 per calendar month and transportation allowance of QR 800 per calendar month, paid in arrears.
The contract will be a full time, fixed term for two years subject to 6-month probationary period.
The position is offered on a non-sponsored basis and due to the nature of the work, some flexibility on hours will be required.
No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
The successful candidate will need to commence security clearance procedures through the Embassy.
Embassy working hours are 7.30 a.m.
to 3.30 p.m.
Sunday to Wednesday and 7.30 a.m.
The position holder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out-of-hours.
Please note that this position will sometimes involve out of hours commitment (networking events, receptions, and seminars).
Travel to the UK and within the Gulf region may be required for training and logistical purposes.
Additional information Eligibility : Applicants must already reside in Qatar and hold the right to live and work there, including those either under spouse sponsorship or be able to transfer an existing sponsorship to the British Embassy.
