About the role

JOB PURPOSE

To identify and provide effective support to students requiring additional education needs in the school, including but not limited to providing training and support for class teachers.

Teaching and Learning

  • To support the class teacher to ensure lessons are well prepared and assist with the development of support materials
  • To support the learning of groups of pupils as directed by the class or specialist teacher, inside and outside of the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • To assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the Class Teachers
  • To be proactive and consistent in the application of the school’s behaviour management policy
  • To support the individual needs of all pupils including those with additional learning needs
  • To have high expectations and monitor standards of pupils’ work
  • To support the class / specialist teacher with displays of pupils' work
  • Other Professional Requirements

  • Be proactive relating to health and safety and safeguarding procedures
  • Undertake duties relating to cover in a timely and proactive manner
  • Attend meetings including parents’ evenings or other official school events as required
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality
  • Be willing to undertake training to develop own effectiveness in the role
  • Establish effective communication and professional working relationships with colleagues
  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, attendance and professional conduct
  • Provide at least one engaging CCA per week
