JOB DESCRIPTION Principal Accountabilities
Supervises the activities of assigned electricalpersonnel. Carries out supervisory duties at the level establishedby Management for the position.
Implements COMPANYpolicy on training and development with particular reference toQatari development.
Ensures all electrical personnelcomply with COMPANY Safety regulations regarding earthing,isolation, issuing Electrical permits.
Maintains dailycontacts with his Electrical Senior Technicians and ElectricalTechnicians. Independently evaluates the complexity of electricalmaintenance activity to determine degree of involvement and thismay involve temporary reassignment of electrical support.
When a problem occurs in an area, visits that area andarranges for work procedures, the employment of contract staff, theprovision / recommendations of necessary spares and materials tocomply with hazardous area classification.
Liaises witharea Production Supervisor, Mechanical engineer and InstrumentEngineer in resolving any problems with electrical equipment.
Makesspecific recommendations on the necessaryrepair / modifications / replacements to improve operationalreliability.
Provides complete electrical technicalinput into the planned maintenance routines, schedules stationshutdown, annual inspection programme, major overhaul programmeprepared by Planning Division.
Ensures the plannedmaintenance activities are carried out by competent electricalpersonnel from published work programmes.
Checks that maintenancework has been implemented as planned, inspecting as necessary.Ensures that a record of work completed has been compiled in SAP.
Assists major shutdown planning groups concerning theneed to hire contractors, checklists, inspection, overhaul andtesting procedures.
Ensures that where contractors are employed forelectrical maintenance they are properly supervised and comply withhazardous area classification work environments.
Acts as a shutdownengineer (Electrical) during the plant shutdowns and is responsiblefor all planned electrical activities during this period.
Initiates and supervises the execution of MaintenanceWork Orders raised by other departments to include preparation ofdrawings, scope of works, procurement of materials, PlantModification Certificates (where necessary), construction andinstallation work and commissioning / testing of the new work.
Implementation and adherent to relevant ISO procedures.
Conduct / attend safety / housekeeping meetings andimplement corrective actions.
Responsible forprocurement of all spares and conducting detailed technicalevaluations and review minimum safety stock of coded spares byraising SPF.
Authorizes and signs Medium VoltageElectrical Permits. Ensures that all electrical equipment isproperly isolated, earthed and safe for working on.
Subsequentlycancels permits as per COMPANY Safety Regulations and Procedures.
Supervises and provides guidance to Senior Technician.Supervising TAFE Trainees and Multi Skill Trainees.
Provides guidance to Trainee Technicians and Trainee Engineers(Nationals).
Provides technical input into the repairactivities of electrical workshop to include battery chargers,switchgears (high voltage and medium voltage), transformers,motors, hazardous area equipment and all power equipment installed.
As delegated by Lead Operations Engineer, liaises withproject supervision and outside contractors to ensure a smoothoperational takeover after commissioning of any project and tobecome fully conversant with equipment installed.
Assists area Lead Operations Engineer in the annual review of meritrating reports of all electrical personnel.
Carries outsimilar or related duties such as recommending items forincorporation in the annual budget submissions relieving the LeadOperations Engineer and carrying out standby (on call) duties asMaintenance Duty Officer on a rotational basis.
EDUCATION : BSc. inElectrical Engineering is minimum. Must have satisfied the academicrequirements for Chartered Engineers status or equivalent.
Goodknowledge of written and spoken English.
