A Duty Manager is responsible to supervise all engineering staff and ensure the effective maintenanceof Hilton's newest resort and entertainment complex in Qatar.

The Salwa Beach Resort is to become one of the largest resorts in the Middle East. It spreads along a 3.5km pristine beach front on the southwest coast of Qatar.

Managed by Hilton, it will have 362 hotel rooms and residential units with private beaches, a world-class leisure and waterpark, sports club, marina, dive center, health club, spa, restaurants, cinemas and retail space.

The resort is scheduled to open in 2020 and can be found on Google and YouTube under its working title 'Salwa Beach Resort'.

What will I be doing?

Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards :

  • To have a complete understanding of the hotel’s rules and regulations and adhere to them.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
  • Have a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel’s policy relating to Fire. Hygiene, Health and Safety.
  • To maintain good working relationship with own colleagues and all other departments.
  • Provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
  • Report for duty punctually and well groomed.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearances are clean and professional maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  • To complete the personal daily shift log record book accurately and keep ready for inspection.
  • Coordinate for the maintenance work with service providers as per service agreement. Follow up all pending work. Keeping all service reports up to date.
  • Making monthly walk through with DOE or designate for all engineering related areas and take corrective action accordingly.
  • To ensure that you maintain a high level of hospitality and guest concern. Practice at all times "Empowerment" in order to meet the guest satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relations with other employees and departments. Any job related complaints or grievances to be handled promptly with your Assistant Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer.
  • Address guest’s service needs in a professional, positive and timely manner. Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using guest’s name if possible.
  • Be active member of hotel emergency response team. To ensure that each and every job is done to a high standard and that all your work is done with quality in mind.
  • Emergencies To be available for any emergenciesand act in a professional manner to protect our Guests, Staffs and preserve the Hotel Property and its system.
  • Follow Hotel Crises plan.

  • Follow up Company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  • Attend all departmental trainings and other training program.

  • Prepare weekly walk through to check all engineering critical areas for necessary action.
  • Cross train engineering associates within the department.
  • Comply with hotel and corporate SOP’s.
  • Prepare weekly / monthly work schedule to enable the engineering department to function effectively and cost effectively.
  • Review and discuss with CE).

  • Ensure that all engineering spaces are safe, kept clean and in an orderly manner at all times.
  • Assist engineering associates in ordering the correct materials prior to commencing the work.
  • To thoroughly investigate each job as assigned to ensure that only the necessary spare parts are used and to avoid unnecessary wastage of all engineering supplies.
  • Ensure that all logs are taken and a historical record is kept. Logs should be checked for necessary action. Keep all engineering log sheets in a proper file for record purpose.
  • Make sure that all materials needed to perform the jobs are available prior to work commencing.
  • Keep a close track of the performance of the engineering associates and review with chief engineer.
  • Carry out instructions, work orders or assignments given out by the ACE / CE and the management team.
  • Get physically involved in projects but at the same time ensure that routine work is carried out in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Organize and supervise all the maintenance staff. Making monthly duty roaster and adjust the shift duties as per business demand.
  • Maintain effective energy management and preventive maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.
  • Provide training of all staff on all aspects of the departmental operating procedures.
  • Responsible for the entire maintenance operation in absence of Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Review the shift log and fallow up for the pending job orders.
  • Review and maintain operation log sheets and daily check list.
  • Coordinate with shift leaders and ACE for smooth operation of the department.
  • Totally responsible of powerhouse, water plants, booster pumps and all other mechanical and electrical works related to engineering in the property.
  • Provides technical advice as required across all Divisions within the Department.
  • Ensure monitor all maintenance requests are prioritized and are dealt with in an efficient manner.
  • Carry out continuous inspections to ensure the highest level of guest comfort is maintained and that all services are in proper working condition.
  • Performs corrective maintenance on MEP systems as required and makes recommendations to management on improvements.
  • Performs as a key member of the committee in charge of the energy conservation and other cost saving initiatives.
  • Inspects regularly the operation of equipment under his / her responsibility to identify and then rectify problems in conjunction with outside contractors and line staff ,in consultation with the ACE / CE as and when necessary.
  • Draws up regular reports, performs analysis and completes the tasks, which are entrusted to him / her and communicates with the ACE / CE as required.
  • Able to assign the daily work schedule to the Engineering Team, and to further supervise the effective completion of their tasks and duties to the highest standards.
  • Help Assistant Chief Engineer in running day to day operations of Engineering department.
  • Provide constructive feedback to all team members to ensure safe work practices, efficient operation, proper maintenance and repair to equipment.

  • Work closely with Assistant Chief Engineer for all internal projects and ensures safe work practices.
  • Assist the Assistant chief engineer to prepare the monthly report.
  • Prepare daily and monthly consumption reports for power, water, diesel, and gas.
  • Prepare daily tasks with supervisors and Team Leaders.
  • Assist the assistant Chief Engineer for preparing daily Engineering staff briefing and assist in distributing daily work assignments with follow ups.
  • Schedule and document planned and unplanned maintenance programs for the various systems such as but not limited to : air-
  • conditioning & electrical, refrigeration, FLS equipment, building maintenance including furniture & fixtures, painting, parts renewal & repairs, kitchen and laundry equipment, low voltage (LV), guest rooms, F&B outlets, function / banquet areas, front / back of the house, plumbing & drainage for the resort and staff accommodation in accordance with O&M manual.

    Responsible to Prepare, schedule, organize, and to carry out preventive maintenance program effectively as per the SOP and the manufacturer guidelines.
