BACKGROUND OF COLLEGE OF MEDICINE (CMED)
The College of Medicine is anewly established college at Qatar University and represents the onlynational medical college in the state of Qatar.
The College implementsan innovative integrated, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) curriculum,promoting small group and self-directed learning.
The language ofinstruction is English. Hamad Medical Cooperation (HMC) and itsaffiliated hospitals, and Primary Health Care centers (PHCC) in Qatarare the primary clinical training facilities of the College.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contributes in building andenhancing an innovative College of Medicine for the state of Qatar.
Strong commitment to teaching, with proficiency inteaching, in the relevant field for medical students and contribute todevelopment of the teaching-research nexus at the College.
Contributes to the enhancement and development of other curricular activities.
Promotes collaborative and interdisciplinaryresearch in areas of priority for the medical college with demonstratedmethodological expertise in a defined area of the field
Fosters a supportive and mentoring environment for students.
Fosters academic and interdisciplinary research links with the relevantdepartments and centers at the University, being a member of one of the3 research divisions : Center for Translational Molecular Medicine,Population Medicine and Medical Education.
Promotes andcommunicates the work of the College to the public through a variety ofcommunity outreach activities, including workshops, lectures,publications, conferences, secondary school visits etc.
Participates in the formulation and implementation of theCollege’s strategic plan and mission in alignment with thestrategic plan and vision and mission of the University.
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
PhD degree (or equivalentfor clinical specialties*) in the relevant discipline from a recognizedand accredited university.
Medical qualification / degree(MD, MBBS, MBBCh) is preferred.
Good proficiency in Stata(or equivalent) and with quantitative methodologies related to Healthsystems, Global Health and related areas·
Strong and demonstrated excellence in teaching of the relevant fieldin a medical college, preferably in an innovative integrated curriculumand using Problem-Based Learning (PBL) strategy.
A strongrecord of relevant research experience backed with a strong andconsistent track record of research productivity.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.·Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal and administrative skills.
Excellence in interpersonal behaviors and commitment to effectiveteam-work collaboration with colleagues.
Experienceand / or scholarship in medical education’ will be anadvantage.
Proficiency in English and Arabic (bothwritten and verbal) will be an advantage*For clinical specialties(additional to the Medical Degree) : - Board certified in the relevantclinical specialty (American, Canadian etc.
or- Royal CollegeMembership / Fellowship in the relevant clinical specialty (MRCP, FRCS,etc.); or- Arab Board in the relevant clinical specialty.
