Department : The Department of Pathology is a professional service that provides a full range of diagnostic testing & interpretations and serves additional functions including academic training and teaching.
together with Wireless Point of Care testing (POCT) and a 24 / 7 Phlebotomy service. The Department of Pathology will be CAP and ISO 15189 accredited as well as JCI.
The Department is supported by the Cerner Millennium PathNET LIS as part of an enterprise wide CIS and will incorporate ward-
based electronic testing, wireless and RFID technologies in POC and Phlebotomy, as well as digital pathology. Person :
The Junior Attending Physician is responsible for the delivery of a high quality evidence-based genetics service. The Junior Attending Physician reviews referrals, makes recommendations to referrers, has high-
level input into diagnostic testing and approaches, and is part of the senior management team of the Pathology Genetics division in the Department of Pathology.
Experience is required in inherited disease and cancer genomics, with a technical focus on next-generation sequencing platforms / software and those approaches considered appropriate for molecular / cytogenetic assays.
Hands-on experience with molecular analyses in a clinical setting (pre and post-natal) are considered essential, together with reporting using data from next-
generation sequencing (panel / exome / genome), PCR-based testing, and FISH / cytogenetic tests. Participation in interdisciplinary meetings and inherited disease conferences will be required, as well as teaching responsibilities. Experience :
FCCMG; FRCPath; FRCPA; FFSc(FRCPA)
At least 5 years of post-certification / residency in clinical care or education in the relevant field from Australia or New Zealand or a North American Academic / Health care Institution or equivalent in UK, Republic of Ireland, or other European Countries with an accredited and recognized board.
Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Human Molecular Genetic Pathology.
Certification and Licensure
Valid professional License in the country of origin or country of practice.
Board Certification (or equivalent) in Human Molecular Genetic Pathology.

Ensure that the Pathology Genetics division testing supports performance of medically appropriate patient care
Ensure prompt communication with other relevant clinicians and health care providers
Ensure cooperation and liaison with clinical services or other agencies to provide diagnostic pathology data, consultation, peer review and other audit data
Participate in and collaborate with appropriate and relevant hospital committees and working groups, to oversee management / quality activities of the Pathology Genetics Division
Represent the Department of Pathology to internal and external clients or client groups, as required
Ensure that the Pathology Genetics division provides testing that is at the forefront of genetics in terms of range of diagnostic testing and technical equipment appropriate to a hospital of international standing
Maintain familiarity with new technology and procedures relevant to Human Molecular Pathology
Strong Medical Knowledge of established and evolving practice, Diagnostics, Therapeutics and training
Demonstrated ability to coordinate with varied staff efficiently
Actively participate in relevant accreditation programs and support their implementation as required
Take an active part in research and teaching programs of the department
