About Your Job :

The Lead Finance Officer for Policies & Internal Controls will develop and maintain finance policies, procedures and internal controls framework for the assigned functions within Qatar Airways that adhere to Corporate Governance and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

The position-holder will focus on improving the quality and effectiveness of those policies, procedures and internal controls and their documentation and will be a custodian of Delegation of Authority (DoA) Manual in Finance.

Key accountabilities of the role include the following :

  • Develop, write and implement finance policies and procedures to provide clear and effective guidance to finance staff and other stakeholders
  • Develop and improve internal controls system within the business and identify any apparent weakness in controls for resolution.
  • Ensure existing finance policies, procedures and internal controls are up to date in line with current processes, IFRS and industry standards.
  • Identify the areas where QR Group needs robust finance policies, procedures and internal control system and implement the same.
  • Document Risk based Controls Matrix for Finance Functions and Finance Departments.
  • Continuously review and update the risk and internal controls to reflect changes / automation / improvement in internal process and procedures.
  • Perform walkthrough and assessment of internal controls system to improve design and implementation of the internal controls.
  • Develop accurate and timely reports on the health of System of Internal Controls and inherent risks.
  • Prepare precise and accurate reports / briefs to communicate outcomes of controls review to all stakeholders.
  • Review the reports of both internal and external auditors, comment on these reports and develop the policies, procedures and internal control function in response to these reports, both at Head Office and Outstations.
  • Participate in working groups ensuring compliance with finance policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Manage the communication process of changes in finance policies, procedures and internal control functions.
  • Responsible for keeping abreast with all financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide appropriate training to finance staff after implementation of new policies and procedures both at Head Office and Outstations.
  • Liaise with Group Finance to ensure, where relevant, compliance across the Qatar Airways Group.
  • Custodian of Delegation of Authority (DoA) Manual in Finance.
  • Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
  • About you :

    You will hold a Bachelor’s Degree preferably relating to Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting Major). A CA / CPA / CIA qualification is an added advantage.

    In addition, you will have 5 or more years’ experience in an audit or internal controls environment.

    In addition, you will have the following job specific skills :

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid presentation skills including use of latest IT solutions to make dynamic presentation to stakeholders across the Network.
  • Sound understanding of Internal Audit, Risk Management and Corporate Governance.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in development and implementation of internal controls framework.
  • Sound knowledge, understanding and experience in application of International Accounting Standards
  • IFRS.

  • Proven ability to constantly meet tight deadlines, ensuring quality control, and attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent organizational ability to be able to set priorities, handle multiple responsibilities / work interruptions.
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently with minimal instructions.
  • Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records and information.
  • Strong ability to work in cross-culture environment, with teams spread across different geographies.
  • Candidates possessing the above requisites from a multi-national organization and / or airline industry are preferred.
