You will -
Identify the potential new technology Cabin / Avionics / lFEC systems and equipment.
Develop lean procedures and processes in line with regulatory and company requirements.
Be expected to understand corporate requirements from SVP-AP for changes to aircraft and equipment with associated timelines and translate them into project outline with high level work scope, constraints and targets
Have an overall responsibility to deliver the project successfully in a timely manner to satisfy these requirements while complying with all regulatory, environmental and safety standards.
Oversee and manage the available resources to optimize project costs and overheads.
2. ACCOUNTABILITIES : Strategic
You will -
Identify the potential new technology Cabin / Avionics / lFEC systems and equipment available in the market and evaluate them for possible induction in Qatar Airways fleet.
Actively engage with OEMs and vendors to drive development of new designs, concepts and technology in Cabin / Avionics / lFEC systems and equipment to ensure that Qatar Airways Cabin / Avionics / lFEC product remains in the forefront of cutting edge design and comfort.
Understand the project requirements and prepare high level work scope - identify available resources, allocated budget and define delivery targets.
Initiate a kick-off meeting with the assigned project team and identify potential conflicts with other programs or projects and other constraints that can impact the deliverables.
Review all relevant contracts and agreements with the objective to ensure that they include most favorable conditions for Qatar Airways.
Participate in negotiations to secure the best technical and commercial solution to meet company requirements.
Develop lean procedures and processes in line with regulatory and company requirements. Review existing procedures and processes for efficiency, effectiveness and compliance and initiate revision as required.
You will : -
Ensure that all SCSA against SCNs / Options / Master changes are initiated and approved in a timely manner.
Take an overall accountability for all design changes, waiver or concession request to be reviewed and recommend for approval or rejection in a timely manner.
Review the business case and ensure that necessary budget approvals for assigned projects are secured.
Ensure that all necessary management approvals on design, specifications and costs are secured as and when necessary during the project.
Ensure that necessary approvals are sought for any agreed deviation to design or specification identified by the project team.
Inform Aircraft Programs senior management in case there is a risk of budget over run and recommend necessary corrective actions.
Oversee the finalized specifications and work scope to ensure that they comply with the overall project guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.
Review the submitted evaluation reports, accepted or rejected specifications options and change requests for endorsement or comments.
Oversee that finalized options and change requests meet required specifications, design and operational requirements.
Conduct regular reviews with Project Managers, Engineers and BFE / SFE management regarding project plans and other technical data or issues and provide guidance and necessary support to address potential risks and deviations.
Assist the department head with development of departmental budget. Consolidate the budget for respective area and provide the data in required format to SVP-AP.
Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
Ensure that there are no other project risks than those identified by the project team and that the identified mitigation plan is acceptable.
Oversee and ensure that effective coordination and communication is maintained with aircraft manufacturers, vendors and other internal / external stake holders all time.
Ensure that all critical project meetings, conference calls, webex with OEM and vendors are attended by respective Project Teams and ensure that Qatar Airways interests are represented and protected.
You will : -
Lead a team of Project Managers and Senior Engineers and provide instructions and guidance required to perform their duties.
Assist and guide Project Managers, Project Engineers and project teams, as necessary, on all aspects of the project from initiation until successful EIS.
Establish the department or teams objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
Regularly evaluate the department or teams objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.
Oversee and supervise employees.
Direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
Train and develop other employees, to ensure succession planning is in place.

You will : -

About You : Qualifications :
Qualifications : Essential
Relevant College or university qualification to min Bachelor's level with ICAO Type II License B1 / B2.
University Engineering Degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical, Aeronautical or equivalent discipline preferred
Additionally, Project Management training and preferably Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Previous Experience : Essential
Minimum 10 years relevant experience as Development Engineer in Airline / MRO Engineering or Aircraft Program / Projects department or as Design Engineer in Design Organization or OEM / vendor, with the last five(05) years in management role.
Minimum 10+ years relevant experience as ICAO Type II License B1 / B2 Engineer in Airline Technical Department, with the last five (05) years in management role
Extensive experience on Cabin / Avionics / lFEC projects, layout changes, various cabin modifications, equipment selection, seat electrical design development.
Job Specific Skills : Essential
Excellent knowledge of EASA and FAA Cabin / Avionics / lFEC related regulations for linefit and retrofit solutions
Command of English language
Microsoft Office proficient
Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.
