Responsible for developing a working knowledge of all departments in the hotel and their dependence and interaction with the Sales Department.

Responsible for learning how to drive customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.

Learn to proactively prospect for the target customer of the property (e.g., group, catering, business travel, leisure travel).

Learn proficiency in using Marriott’s Customer Focused Sales Call Process and the skill of closing the sale. Gain understanding of property revenue goals and how to achieve personal and team related revenue goals.

Learn how personal sales and service contribution affect the total hotel’s success. Provide service to our customers in order to grow market share of the account on behalf of Marriott International, across the enterprise.

Learn how to partner effectively with the Hotels Event Booking Center and Event Operations to maximize the customer experience of the property.

Sales and Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.

  • Analytical / Critical Thinking - The ability to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data;

    Revenue Management - Knowledge of total hotel revenue management concepts, processes and strategies (including sales cycles and trends, account management, pricing, and inventory management).

    Basic Computer Skills - Using basic computer hardware and software (e.g., personal computers, word processing software, Internet browsers, etc.).

    Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

    Mathematics - Using mathematics to solve problems.

    Number Facility - The ability to add, subtracts, multiply, or divides quickly and correctly.

    Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

    Originality - The ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about products, services or situations, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.

    Management of Financial Resources - Determining how money will be spent to get the work done, and accounting for these expenditures.

    Economics and Accounting - Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, P&L statements, operating budgets, forecasting and scheduling, and the reporting of financial data.

    Education and Experience

    High school diploma or GED; Experience in hospitality and / or sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, reservations or related professional area.OR

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major;
  • no work experience required.

    Knowledge and understanding of Hotel management.

    Marriott experience is desirable but not essential.


    Responds in a timely manner to customer requests. Refers opportunities to appropriate EBC / Catering sales associate sales associate if business falls outside of pro-active responsibility.

    Ensures business booked is within hotel parameters.

    Processes all business correspondence within acceptable time limits.Creates contracts and other related booking documentation as required.

    Manages and maintains account files.

    Ability to understand and execute and support Marriott Customer Service Standards and Marriott Brand Standards

    Ability to work collaboratively with hotel service team in providing exceptional customer service

    Superior guest relations skills

    Excellent selling skills and understanding of sales processes; can effectively upsell products and services; can bring a sale to closure

    Possesses excellent telephone sales skills

    Strong customer development and relationship management skills

    Ability to set accurate account and revenue goals for individual accounts

    Knowledge of operations and associated challenges for all brands

    Knowledge of property-specific business segments (e.g., group, catering, transient)

    Knowledge of all Marriott Lodging products, cultures and brand strategies

    Knowledge of contractual agreements and legal implications

    Understands revenue management functions and account profitability

    Knowledge of need time strategy as developed by Revenue Management

    Financial management skills e.g., ability to analyze P&L statements, develop operating budgets, forecasting and capital expenditure planning
