DohaPart-timeOverall Purpose of Job : The primary role of the shadow Teacher is to assist the students in all teaching and learning tasks assigned.

Brief summary of major job responsibilities : · Supporting individuals or groups of students during lessons as directed by the Classroom Teacher.

  • Encourage the students to be independent learners through use of simple strategies e.g. questioning; modelling; using multiple resources representing multiple perspectives;
  • pursuing open-ended inquiry and real-life investigations.·Ensure a smooth start and end to the day to support the Classroom Teacher and students.

  • Be available to answer parent questions as appropriate if the Classroom Teacher is not available and to keep the teacher informed of this, remembering to use discretion and professionalism at all times.
  • Professional Expectations : · Support the aims and ethos of the school.· Set a good example in dress, punctuality and attendance.

  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.Minimum requirements : · High School diploma or equivalentSkills, Knowledge and / or Abilities Required : · Prior experience working with school aged children preferred.
  • Preference is given to those with work experience in an accredited elementary, middle or secondary school.· Enthusiastic willingness to work with children· Self motivated.

  • Strong oral and written English communication skills. Arabic language skills are beneficial.· Skills to understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
  • make common sense decisions· Ability to follow School policies and procedures· Ability to exercise tact, patience, kindness and positive attitude.

  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with a variety of age groups (young children to adults) including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Outstanding collaborative skills and a desire to work in a team-focused environment· Ability to stand, walk and work in hot outdoor environments for prolonged periods, adhere to schedules, be observant, work independently.
  • Significant physical abilities include : stooping, reaching / handling, talking / hearing, far vision acuity / field of vision.

  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator· Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Personal Qualities : · Committed to student learning and development, effective interpersonal skills, articulate communicator, ability to work independently and collaboratively, positive can do attitude.

  • Organised, compassionate, flexible, supportive, approachable, hard working, and a sense of humor.· Ability to work with teams in a variety of circumstances.
  • Working Environment : Based at ACS Doha International School campus. The contractual hours are 7 : 00 3 : 00 Sunday through Thursday but the nature of the profession may require work outside those hours on occasions.
