Quantity surveyor is responsible to manage the costsof a construction project and ensure that project is completedwithin its projected budget.
Responsibility includes - from initialestimates, to the final acquisition of materials right up tohanding over the project.
Duties & Responsibilities, (include But NotLimited To)
Preparetender and contract documents, including bills of quantities withthe architect.
Undertake cost analysis forrepair and maintenance project work.
Price / forecast the cost of the different materials neededfor the project
Assist in establishing arequirement and undertake feasibility study.
Perform risk, value management and costcontrol.
Advise on a procurementstrategy.
Identify, analyze and developresponses to commercial risks.
Analyzecostings for tenders.
Provide advice oncontractual claims.
Analyze outcomes and writedetailed progress reports.
Track changes tothe design and / or construction work and adjusting budgetprojections accordingly
Procure or agree theservices of contractors and / or subcontractors who work on theconstruction of the project
Measure and valuethe work done on site
Value completed work andarrange payments to subcontractors.
Maintainawareness of the different contracts in current use.
Understand the implications of health and safetyregulations.
Liaise with the client and otherconstruction professionals, such as site managers, project managersand site engineers.
Select and / or sourceconstruction materials.
Site visits,assessments and projections for future work.
Measurement & Valuation of variations
Preparation of final accounts
Arbitration (Settlement of disputes)
