Department

PORTFOLIO ASSESSMENT & ECONOMIC EVALUATION

Primary Purpose Of Job

Design, develop and maintain economic modelling tools to be used for the assessment and management of Qatar Petroleum’s asset portfolio.

Perform portfolio simulations and Economic Analysis for Upstream (Exploration & Production), LNG and Downstream (Petrochemical and Refinery) assets, and continuously assess QP’s portfolio and present possible portfolio actions to ensure alignment of asset portfolio with QP’s business strategy / objectives, priorities and to maximize long term value for QP.

Conduct industry benchmarking and economic modelling and evaluation of potential assets that fits and addresses the gaps of QP’s portfolio.

  • Market Intelligence design Market Intelligence Tools and Database and provide analysis and insights on global Exploration and Production industry in relation to QP’s Portfolio.
  • Prepare analytical Market Intelligence reports for Upstream, LNG, and Downstream businesses. Perform industry benchmarks, and lead the operational / financial standard performance indicators for the directorate.

  • Asset Portfolio Management Develop portfolio assessment and management tools and key performance indicators enabling asset risk / performance ranking and facilitating investment decision making process.
  • Scenario and Sensitivity Analyses Perform multiple scenario and sensitivity analyses taking into account the macroeconomic volatility, asset planning underlying conditions and other key performance drivers.
  • Performance Enhancement Action Plan Using specific tools and reports, developed and coordinated with other relevant departments, recommend actions and strategic directions aiming at enhancing QP’s asset portfolio performance and, ultimately, value to the shareholders.
  • Corporate & Business Strategy Provide support and assistance to other relevant departments in designing, updating and reporting on QP’s Corporate and Business strategy, including recommendations aiming at aligning QP’s asset portfolio to such strategy.
  • Business Development, M&A, Divestment and Optimization Initiatives Provide support and assistance to other relevant departments in implementing investment, divestment or other asset portfolio optimization action aiming at enhancing QP’s asset portfolio.
  • Experience & Skills

    Minimum 20 years work experience in various disciplines in the Oil & Gas industry. Consideration for Business Consultancy experience or Investment Banking and Asset Management experience with multi-

    disciplinary expertise ranging from technical to business and economics. This must include a minimum 10 years with emphasis on Economic Modelling, Portfolio Assessment, Merger & Acquisition activities, as well as Corporate and Business Strategy.

    Ability to prepare, analyze and present complex information in an effective and timely manner; Interest and ability to acquire knowledge of the industry dynamics and the regulatory, fiscal, and licensing regimes.

    Energy and ability to work within and across teams, to facilitate effective decision making. Evidence of strong work ethic and awareness of discretion and need to observe confidentiality in all matters.

    Excellent problem solving, financial and economic modelling skills as well as ability to work in multi-cultural environment.

    Excellent oral / written communication skills in English are required. Arabic is a plus.

    Education

    Bachelor degree in in Economics, Engineering or Business Administration from an internationally recognized university. Postgraduate Qualification (MSc. Or MBA).
