BackgroundAs a Group, Ooredoo has seen a decline in its revenue base in the last 3 years of 2.2% CAGR (Q1-21 vs. Q1-18) which indicates an increasing competitive intensity and maturity in its markets.

In addition, customer expectations towards telecoms providers have evolved with regards to the delivered customer experience from sales processes to network quality to customer service processes.

With substantially growing data usage, the need to expand network capacities which adds operating costs and capital spend without being able for most instances to monetize on the additional data usage, wireless operators also see a heightened pressure on their operations cost with a need to optimize spend across the board to maintain financial health.

To ensure Ooredoo stays competitive and to attract customers with an outstanding customer experience, Ooredoo Group and its OpCos have to evolve their operations by being in our markets an early adopter for innovations thatsubstantially step up customer experience,improve via insights capabilities our relevance to customers and the ability to outcompete our local competitors anddrive efficiencies to maintain the long-term health of our operations.

As of now the innovation activities in the Group OpCos happendecentral and uncoordinatedwithout an aligned framework for focus areasand not leveraging systematically successful innovations from one OpCo to the otherleading to lost opportunities, potential duplications and hence missed synergies for the overall Ooredoo Group.

Purpose : The role-holder is accountable for an up to date innovation strategy related to our core business and an up to date innovation roadmap plan that is aligned with the OpCos.

Furthermore the role-holder is responsible to transition high level concepts into executable and practicable projects that improve the core business with buy-in and sign-off of OpCos into executing and pursuing these innovations.

Role ProfileThe role-holder is accountable for an up to date innovation strategy related to our core business and an up to date innovation roadmap plan that is aligned with the OpCos.

Furthermore the role-holder is responsible to transition high level concepts into executable and practicable projects that improve the core business with buy-in and sign-off of OpCos into executing and pursuing these innovations.

The role-holder is also accountable for identifying gaps in the local innovation roadmaps and deviations from the overall focus areas of the Group and assess rationale for gaps / deviations and suggest constructively ways of adjustments where required to make sure the innovation strategy stays on track in interaction with OpCos and respective influencing skills supported by outstanding domain expertise.

Furthermore the role-holder is responsible for architecting and building a network of outside innovation players that can serve as a feed to Ooredoo Innovation and also provide support in implementing innovations.

The role-holder is responsible to leadCraft the innovation strategy with a focus to enhance / improve core telco operations and very closely related to the core innovations to evolve the business model of the coreEvolve the innovation strategy annually and review execution of innovation strategy and appropriateness of innovation strategy as compared to realitiesAlign innovation strategy w / other functional CXO units for the focus areas in scopeDerive potential resourcing needs (skills, capabilities, FTEs and funding) for POCs required, prioritize those along innovation strategy objectives and clearly articulate Dos and Don’ts Review decentral innovation roadmaps of OpCos, syndicate against group innovation strategy, identity potential gaps, identify potential common needs and overlaps to drive synergies across OpCosReview enablers to drive innovation in the focus areasBuild a network for Ooredoo to other telco innovation units to identify innovation candidates earlyAssess leading telecoms player and Ooredoo competition on interesting to Ooredoo innovation activities for focus areas and maintain overall market awareness through trend screening.

ExperienceMinimum Experience & Essential KnowledgeMinimum 10 years of experience in the Telco industry (not just functional)Knowledge and prior experience relating to below, with at least 2 years of experience in each of the fieldsCustomer processes such as sales, marketing, service in the telecoms industryIT enablers / architecture of a telcoNetwork technologies & processes of a telcoAI, analytics and data insights practical experienceTrack record of bringing practical innovation from concept into execution with tangible business impact as a mustStrategy background working in a cross-functional strategy role is beneficialStrong project management expertiseExcellent communicatorStrong influencing skillsQualificationsMinimum QualificationsMasters degree in business and / or technology / IT relevant field for telecoms from a leading university with GPA-Levels of 3.

85 or better.Must have worked in developing markets, ideally in a multinational environment
