Tasks :

As a crucial part of the ABB Qatar team, specific responsibilities include : -

1. Develop and create sustainable relationships with key government and private customers.

2. Familiarize with country political environment (understand country institutions, para-statals, role players, policies and its dynamics) in relation to ABB business interests,

  • 3. Develop a government relations agenda with Country Manager and leadership team;
  • Give ABB sufficient visibility as a local business player (ABB as a local employer / ABB as a local technology provider / ABB as an innovation company / ABB as a key player in the energy market etc..)
  • Secure local good corporate citizen status for ABB (ABB a company of impeccable integrity / ABB as a sustainable company / ABB as a valued contributor to the local communities)
  • Secure ABB’s positioning as a business partner of choice
  • Secure access to relevant public officials for yourself, country manager and for ABB CEO, executive committee and board selectively.
  • 4. Assess ABB’s maturity level locally in the government relations arena (whether hardly visible, off to a good start or more or less solidly established), define reasonable ambition level and plan towards goal.

    5. Identify the key public officials who would be most valuable contacts for ABB (map out who is doing what / where).

  • Consider public officials at the central / federal level
  • Consider public officials at the regional / local and municipality level (esp. in the region / cities where ABB plants are located
  • Consider public officials with influencing or decision making authority / power in the general political arena
  • 6. Have yearly government relations objectives (what do you want to accomplish in a given year / who to contact / when);
  • review accomplishments vs. goals on a quarterly basis.

  • 7. Understand the local legal framework and track any changes or upcoming local legislation that may have an impact on doing business in the country;
  • be selective and realistic; coordinate & assign this objective to local legal team.

    Requirements :

    Ideally you will have a bachelor’s degree with minimum 5 years’ experience in public relations, marketing and communications or key account management.

    Excellent oral and written presentation skills coupled with fluency in English and Arabic knowledge.
