Provide leadership in the provision of high quality collection acquisitions across all QNL to meet the needs of the Library in serving its clientele
Leading, managing and developing a high performing Content Acquisition team ensuring that staff are professional and responsive while delivering strategies, projects and activities that meet key service objectives and priorities
Plan, implement, and evaluate operations, establish and document policies and procedures, and set priorities in resources Acquisitions.
Working collaboratively and actively participating in the leadership team, library wide strategic planning; ensuring transparent decision-
making and risk identification and management.
Assist the Director of Content Services with departmental and library wide strategic planning and take delegated responsibilities on the Director’s behalf
Work cooperatively with the Director CAS, Director R&L and the Library Executive in relation to the selection, acquisition, and retirement of the collections including the management of the assets and resources
Ensure maintenance of accurate and current financial record for library materials budget; Provide budget and collection data;
and interpret statistics and other management analytics for collection Strategy and Management, decision making.
Contribute to the profession by publishing, presenting or participating in professional organizations involved in the acquisitions and licensing of resources.
Keep abreast of developments, trends and issues in areas of responsibility
Work with outside vendors on negotiating purchasing terms, discounts and contracts to provide cost-effective access to resources which meet the Library’s needs
Perform miscellaneous duties and serve on designated committees as required
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience :
Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) or other internationally recognized library qualifications
8 years supervisory experience in a Content Services; Acquisitions and Collection Development / Management environment
Extensive Knowledge of copyright and licensing issues affecting digital and other resources
Solid knowledge of print and digital resources management, commercial knowledge bases and Link Resolvers
Demonstrated ability to analyze user requirements to deliver efficient solutions
Extensive knowledge of principles of accounting and financial management
Strong analytical, interpersonal and English oral and written communication skills
Record of participation in library professional organizations
Experience in a multi-cultural environment preferred
