  • A key part of this job ismonitoring inventory stock. This includes observing whether theappropriate items have arrived and determining what needs to bereordered.
  • Procurement administrators must be aware of low suppliesso they can make purchase orders in advance of stock runningout.

  • Procurement administrators work withsuppliers to negotiate material and order costs, and compile costreports for invoices.
  • In some cases, bargaining may be necessary toget the best rates possible.

  • Procurementadministrators prepare purchase orders and send order requests tosuppliers. They also update records and follow up with vendors tocheck if the order is being processed.
  • Ifissues arise with shipments or orders are incorrect or late,procurement administrators work with the supplier to resolve theissue.
  • They build strong relationships with key contacts withinthese companies, working with them closely to fix problems asquickly as possible.
