Job Title : Land Mobile Radio LMR Tech II
Job Description :
Position will ensure communications information is available to forward deployed forces supporting continuing mission requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD) by providing support to communications systems acquisition, integration, installation, operations & maintenance (O&M) in support of USAFCENT deployed mission requirements.
There is no specification or limitation to the actual tasks to be performed. Position will work as part of a team and must display a rigorous work ethic and possess the initiative and independent thinking to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Candidate must have the ability to engineer, install and maintain Land Mobile Radio equipment to support new and emerging requirements.
The position will provide responsive services to include installation and support of the day-to-day operation and maintenance of LMR, Emergency Mass Notification Systems (EMNS), quality control and performance standards, status reporting, MSL, and other actions required by policies, responsibilities and operational support to all NOSC deployed projects and Public Address (PA) Systems IAW AFI 17-210, USAFCENT (A6) policies and applicable commercial manuals.
Job Responsibilities :
Each location’s system may vary in size. Details of operations will be specified at each destination. Tasks shall include, but are not limited to :
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, optimization, programming, installation, and removal of LMR and EMNS.
Identify and provide recommendations for coverage deficiencies when directed by Government personnel.
Assist in the management of the base Personal Wireless Communication System (PWCS) Accountable Items Management System (AIMS) database.
Identify and assist in the resolution of frequency interference issues IAW AFI 10-707 and host nation directives.
Must be adequately tower / climbing certified to perform the required tasks. Technicians must also maintain tower climbing certification.
Install and de-install LMR mobile and base station to include antenna, trans-mission cables, and other LMR equipment defined in the individual TO.
Install, operate, and maintain equipment required to support trunked and conventional LMR systems. Primary and auxiliary LMR equipment supported includes, but is not limited to :
Repeaters, portables, base stations and mobiles
Dispatch / communications consoles
System management terminals
Switching and routing equipment
Network management equipment
Key Management Facility (KMF) equipment
Key loaders, chargers, programming equipment
Job Requirements :
High school degree required
Intermediate level "hands on" work experience in support of installations, repairs, and troubleshooting or maintenance of communications systems or equipment.
Technical knowledge to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits, and be able to exercise independent judgement in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment
Intermediate level "hands on" experience in maintenance / troubleshooting of Motorola and other Land Mobile Radio Equipment
Candidate must possess maintenance / troubleshooting experience on the following :
SRX-2200, XTS-5000 and other various handheld radios
Trunked and non-trunked LMR systems
Key loaders, antennas, multi-couplers, duplexers
Digital recording equipment
Over the air keying equipment (Key management facility)
Intermediate level "hands on" experience with test equipment such as, service monitors / communication system analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, frequency counters, power meters, spectrum analyzer
Must be qualified to install LMR base stations, repeaters and mobile radios.
Must have LMR shop operations and management experiences in a large-scale LMR shop and be familiar with equipment tracking databases
Active Defense (DoD) security clearance at SECRET level is required
Valid United States passport
Ability to accurately document routine work and while utilizing problem-solving techniques
