Position Summary :

Reporting to the Director of Innovation and Technology, the IT Data Manager is responsible for creating / maintaining databases and administering the communication between the school’s separate IT systems.

Duties and Responsibilities :

STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEM / LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

  • Maintain Follett Destiny library management system and associated databases
  • Working administrator of the school’s learning management system including but not limited to support and training of teachers and staff
  • Work with the PowerSchool administrator to manage data export, import, and maintenance in other school applications
  • Working closely with PowerSchool learning support to maintain the daily workings of the learning management system
  • Maintain the data integrity between PowerSchool and other automated systems and processes
  • DATABASE DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop and deploy computer applications
  • Collaborate with IT, teachers, departments on DB needs
  • Maintain documentation per company standards
  • Provide testing, documentation, training, and support for third-party software products
  • Resolve user-submitted database problems and questions
  • DATABASE PRIVACY

  • Lead the school’s database privacy policy and procedures
  • Assist with training of departments on data procedures
  • Periodically check departments data practices for compliance
  • IT SUPPORT

  • Oversee prompt solutions to data support tickets generated by teachers and staff
  • Provide support to IT personal for data request and requirements
  • Assist with data problem solving across all divisions and departments
  • Communicate solutions and the resolution of problems to all concerned parties
  • OTHER DUTIES

  • Point of contact in the sending of SMS messages to staff and parents
  • Complete other tasks and responsibilities related to data management as assigned by the Director of Innovation and Technology
  • Knowledge & Skills :

  • A university degree in information technology or related field
  • Three years of actual experience in creating and working with databases preferably in an educational environment
  • One to three years of experience in database development
  • Proven experience with OOP languages (Java, C++, VB.NET)
  • Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and AJAX
  • Working knowledge of ODBC and connecting different database technologies
  • Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Working knowledge of E-learning platforms (i.e. PowerSchool Learning, Moodle, etc.) and its use to help educators with blended and flipped instruction.
  • Working Knowledge of Student Information Systems especially as it pertains to reporting
  • Ability to import / export data across dissimilar systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Suite, specifically the ability to work with app scripts
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
