DohaJob DescriptionThe Pharmacy Technician â€ is responsible for assisting the pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of drugs, medications, and intravenous admixtures.
Key Roles & Responsibilities : Maintains sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties and reports shortage of materials to supervisor in a timely mannerAssists the pharmacist in preparation and dispensing of medications and ensures that the medications are prepared accurately under the supervision of a pharmacistCalculates and compounds the ingredients required to prepare extemporaneous preparations under pharmacist supervisionPerforms dosage calculations for medication orders and undertakes multiple checks on prepared medicationsComplies with local rules and regulations in regard to pharmacy activities, including but not limited to preparation, labeling and delivery of medication and other pharmaceutical suppliesFollows appropriate procedures for dispensing medication prescriptions, as applicableMaintains the required records of dispensing medicationFollows proper aseptic technique and intravenous room procedures in preparation of intravenous admixturesAssists in the inspections of nursing units to ensure safe and secure storage of medicationsOperates and maintains pharmaceutical equipment according to policies and proceduresConducts checks and calibration of equipment as required.
Recognizes, reports and advises on discrepancies in performance and initiate remedial action in the light of this informationEnsures that the equipment is used in the correct manner to obtain optimal resultsInforms supervisor of equipment malfunction and / or need for repairMaintains cleanliness of equipment taking into consideration general organization hygienic and sterilization rules and regulationsParticipates in the medication distribution process as applicableProvides drug information and education resources for patients, students, colleagues, medical and nursing staff, and other healthcare professionalsResponds to incidents, adverse drug reactions, medication errors, and report appropriatelyPerforms shift duties as assigned, including weekends and public holidaysEnsures safe and competent use of equipment, patient appliances and aids in their service areaReports all incidents and complaints at service level immediately for appropriate action to be taken, as per organizationâ€™s policyEnsures that medications are stored appropriately and securely and maintains proper storage conditionsEnsures internal and external quality controls as applied in assigned service area are within the required parametersComplies with all regulations for environmental safety and infection control, amongst othersEnsures patient confidentialityEnsures implementation of medication management and use policies and procedures related to their service areaComplies with all regulatory, safety and quality control program and procedures for their service area as applicable, including but not limited to regulatory, licensing, accreditation standards, organizational policies and procedures, etc.
Participate in staff meetings, as assignedMaintains professional knowledge by attending lectures, seminars or on-line education coursesKeeps abreast of all developments pertaining to pharmaceutical care and other specialty related mattersAdheres to Sidraâ€™s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policiesIn view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.
SkillsEssential Requirements : Vocational / Technical Education from an accredited school of Pharmacy2+ years registered or licensed practice after completion of primary qualification as a Pharmacy TechnicianValid professional Pharmacy Technician Certifications and license in country of originDemonstrated to work in a detail oriented mannerExtensive knowledge of pharmacological terminologyGreat attention to detail and carefulnessOutstanding customer service orientationExpert in mathematical calculationsProven ability to follow written instructions and specific directionsFlexibility in managing schedulesGood supply management skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office suiteFluency in written and spoken EnglishPreferred Requirements : Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician programObtain State of Qatar Pharmacy License after on boarding.
