The Director Production and Digital Media Services, Qatar manages Production staff responsible for ongoing design, operations and support of all media production within NU-
Q. Provide leadership in media production equipment including digital television control room, and news and film studios.
Provide strategic direction and lead in the planning of systems in support of media production. Responsible for creating ongoing repair and maintenance program(s), ongoing capital equipment replacement program, and a studio and control room operational program.
Through collaboration with faculty, provide primary input and insight into the requirements of the studio facilities and equipment.
Please note : This position is based in Doha, Qatar, with a Sunday-Thursday workweek. On call 24x7 and weekend maintenance and upgrade work schedule.
Specific Responsibilities :
Directs a team of production engineers, technical support specialists and equipment coordinators to design, install, maintain, and operationally support film and television studios, news room management and workflow systems, production related computer networks, and media laboratories.
Provides strategic direction and leads the planning, development and implementation of existing and new services; develops short and long-term strategies
Evaluates new and emerging technologies; documents functional and technical specifications; leads RFP process; recommends cost effective solutions that meet the needs of NU-Q's academic programs.
Establishes and maintains an appropriate network of professional contacts. Maintains currency through professional organizations, industry conferences and publications.
Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, etc. Represents NU-Q and team as assigned or as appropriate. Provides recommendations to the faculty and COO on production equipment issues and needs.
Implements best practices, service quality control and service metrics. Provides regular reports to top management on the key performance indicators.
Directs the use of AutoCAD and other design tools to create and implement studio and facility designs.
Directs a team that maintains and repairs production computer networks and servers, computer based production equipment, and cameras and field equipment.
Provides web-based trouble tickets and problem tracking.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills, abilities and knowledge can be acquired.
Seven years related professional experience in the media industry.
5-7 years of supervisory experience of a team of 4-5 professional technicians and engineers
Minimum Competencies : (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Demonstrated knowledge AutoCAD.
Ability to effectively analyze IT and AV systems problems under pressure.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a variety of parties throughout the University community.
Must be able to work closely with student employees, contractors, and others assisting in the provision of services.
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
A master's degree in Computer Science or Computer engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Previous experience in a university environment.
10 years of industry experience.
