College Profile :
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) houses ten departments, covering a wide range of undergraduate specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English Literature & Linguistics, Arabic Language, Humanities, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, International Affairs, Policy, Planning & Development, Statistics, Chemistry, Mass Communication, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Material Science, and Sports Science.
The College also houses five graduate programs in Environmental Sciences, Gulf Studies, Material Science, Statistics, and Arabic Language.
Additionally, the College offers a Program of Arabic for Non- Native Speakers. The College also houses newly established research centers namely the Center for Sustainable Development, and the Gulf Studies Center
As members of QU, CAS faculty members have excellent opportunities to secure intramural and extramural funding for their research ideas.
Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) is a major source of research funding, with individual project funding exceeding 1 million / project (5 million for exceptional projects), along with student research funding programs.

Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences
The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at Qatar University offers two undergraduate programs : B.Sc. in Biological science and B.
Sc. in Environmental Science in addition to two Graduate programs. The graduate programs offered by the department are the Master of Science in Environmental Science and the Doctor of Philosophy in Biological and Environmental Sciences.
Duties & Responsibilities1.Assist with general laboratory support, samples collection, and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the lab.
2.The timely preparation of samples, laboratory equipment and required materials for undergraduate classes.3.Ensure that materials / equipment / apparatus in the laboratories is maintained, serviced and repaired and organized as required 4.
Update and maintain laboratory notebooks, logbooks and laboratory information management system to standard.5.Responsible for maintaining levels of consumables in the laboratories for teaching and other activities.
6.Plan and schedule lab workload.7.Monitor and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with the health and safety procedures in laboratories.
8.Accompany students and collect samples in field trips linked with certain courses.9.Proctor exams and serve in department activities and events.
10. Perform other tasks and duties that may be occasionally required in order to meet the requirements of the role and the aims of the University.
1.A bachelor degree (BSc) or master (MSc) from a reputable university in the area of environmental science, or related field.
2.English is required; excellent written and oral communication skills 3.Arabic is preferred 4.A minimum laboratory technician experience in a university of 4 years for BSc holders and 2 years for MSc holders.
An experience in Animal ecology and biological diversity is preferred. 5.Experience in the practical parts of courses in biological / environmental sciences in university level or related laboratories.
