The Qatar Linguistic Map (QLM) is a 3-year project funded by QNRF. QLM is a collaboration between Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar, and Doha International Family Institute.
The project is led by Dr. Zeinab Ibrahim from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar.
We are seeking to hire a research assistant to participate in creating and maintaining a corpus of Qatari dialect (speech and text).
Also, this research assistant will carry out extensive data analysis and help in creating the Qatari linguistic interactive map.
Qualifications Required :
Masters degree in Arabic linguistics.
Be a native speaker of the Qatari dialect.
linguistic skills should include awareness of grammar, syntax, and morphology of Arabic.
Previous relevant professional experience is a plus.
You are expected to be comfortable using computers.
Flexibility and ability to prioritize tasks effectively according to the project requirements.
Research and work on Arabic and dialectology is a major plus.
Main tasks :
Supervise and manage interviewers who record and transcribe interviews.
Collect the data from them including recorded audios and their corresponding transcriptions.
Organize and help in analyzing the collected data
Build the linguistic map with the help of the team members.
