Job Description : The C-17 aircraft maintenance SME and Instructor will be responsible for the accomplishment of ground-
based training of foreign based C-17 aircraft maintenance students. Responsibilities include instructing and measuring training progress of students who will be trained utilizing platform, computer, and performance based training curriculum.
Potential candidates shall be required to gain proficiency in evaluating, diagnosing, and critiquing student performance.
Candidates should further be able to identify student learning difficulties and recognizing objectives not accomplished and able to prescribe / conduct remediation instruction
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Provide C-17 aircraft maintenance instruction in classroom and flight line training environments.
Assist as a SME in the development of curriculum for new type courses as required.
Acts as a lesson SME to review existing lessons and / or make changes to existing lessons.
Provide suggestions to improve and update training policies and procedures.
Promote a positive attitude towards learning and embracing new technologies and tasks.
Conduct ground training for students that includes diagnosis and remediation of student issues.
Assist in project and courseware development work as assigned.
Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, quality assurance, safety, security, and maintenance of training programs and equipment.
Must be physically able to individually perform aircraft maintenance tasks, lift 50 pounds, and maintain personal and student safety in all training environments.
Must be able to stand up and conduct academic instruction in a classroom as well as on an aircraft for up to six hours each day.
Must maintain academic / instructional proficiency in C-17 aircraft maintenance tasks.
Must complete an instruction course that requires the instructor to have prior C-17 aircraft maintenance experience.
Must demonstrate a high level of subject knowledge, instruction capability, professionalism, and expertise.
Conducts briefings and debriefings and counsels with other aircraft maintenance instructors for the purpose of developing and maintaining a high level of proficiency.
Performs administrative duties relative to training such as record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, training development and maintenance of training programs.
Provides inputs for courseware corrections and aircraft modifications and reviews and updates training policies and procedures.
Education and / or Experience
Candidates shall have been previously qualified as a C-17 aircraft maintenance technician, specifically propulsion / engines.
An A.S. or A.A. degree or higher is desired.
Candidate must be able to perform all duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
Minimum of 5 years experience in C-17 aircraft maintenance in engines / propulsion is mandatory.
Must acquire and maintain proficiency in emergency procedures
Must have a current passport and be willing to travel and live abroad
Desired Requirements :
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
International assignment experience preferred.
Formal AF Initial Qualification Instructional experience is highly desired.
Language Skills :
Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret aircraft maintenance technical documents. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations on complex subjects.
Reasoning Ability :
Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-
verbal, and written communication is desirable.
Physical Demands :

Domestic and international travel as required.
Must be able to walk and / or climb stairs, ramps, and / or ladders into a simulator or airplane.
Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under aircraft and machinery.
Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of aircraft and its surrounding environment.

Work in an office, classroom, and flight line environment; communicate via personal computer, telephone and fax.
Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock and from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.
Will at times be exposed to the following conditions : extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
