  • Planning collaboratively, in thecontext of the IB and the AIA curriculum, to build on studentknowledge and expertise, develop significant units of inquiry,accommodate a range of ability levels and emphasize connectionsbetween curriculum areas.
  • Using a range andbalance of teaching strategies to differentiatelearning.
  • Encouraging students to be criticalthinkers, involving students actively in pursuing open ended and relevant units of inquiry, and maintaining a supportiveclimate for the needs of second language learners.
  • Ensuring that planning, teaching, learning and assessmentare interconnected processes, with a view to maintaining a balanceof assessment, recording and reporting strategies that involvestudents, parents and colleagues in the assessment process.
  • Theteacher should also ensure students see assessment as a means ofdescribing their learning and shaping future learning.

  • Actively participating in professional development withthe aim of continually working to improve learning for our studentswithin the learning culture of AIA and the philosophy of theIB.
  • Maintaining a professional demeanor andregard for the image of the school and the support of colleagues inall activities, duties and requirements of the school as assignedby the Principal / Head and IB Coordinator and outlined in thepolicies of the school.
  • The key responsibilityof every teacher at AIA is to be familiar with the values andbeliefs expressed in the philosophy of the IB and to work totranslate them into daily classroom practice in an internationalenvironment.
