Job Description

Provides skilled safe, holistic, culturally competent,woman-centred care to families, community and society, incollaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Provides direct care for women and the newborn in avariety of settings to include the hospital, home, clinics, primaryhealth care units and the community.

Providessafe, responsive and compassionate care and support for the womanand her family to promote normal birth.

Coordinates midwifery services with the services of otherhealth care disciplines.

Evaluates the qualityand appropriateness of care.

Acceptsorganizational accountability for services provided torecipients.

Accepts accountability for ownactions and decision-making and for the related outcome.

Functions at all times in accordance with legislative,regulatory and policy guidelines relevant to registered midwiferypractice.
