JobSummary

Handles social andlocal corporate catering opportunities that are above sales officeparameters. Contracts and closes local catering and social businessand verifies that business is turned over properly and in a timelyfashion for quality service delivery.

Achieves catering revenuegoals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximizerevenue. Implements the brand’s service strategy andapplicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the sales processand drives customer loyalty by delivering service excellencethroughout each customer experience.

Required

Education andExperience

  • Highschool diploma or GED; 2 years experience in the sales andmarketing, guest services, front desk, or relatedprofessional.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university inBusiness Administration, Marketing, Hotel and RestaurantManagement, or related major;
  • no work experiencerequired.

    Preferred

  • Catering sales experience.
  • CORE WORKACTIVITIES

    Managing Sales Activities

  • Manages the sales efforts for the propertyincluding local corporate and social catering.
  • Responds to incoming catering opportunities for theproperty.
  • Solicits affiliate businessassociated with citywide events from approved affiliate listprovided by Citywide Sales Executive, as applicable.
  • Understands the overall market - competitors’strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc.and knows how to sell against them.
  • Closes thebest opportunities for the property based on market conditions andproperty needs.
  • Uses negotiating skills andcreative selling abilities to close on business and negotiatecontracts.
  • Works with the management team tocreate and implement a catering sales plan addressing revenue,customers and market.
  • Designs, develops andsells creative catered events.
  • Maximizesrevenue by up-selling packages and creative food andbeverage.
  • Manages catering sales revenue andoperation budgets, and provides forecasting reports.
  • Develops menus that drive sales.
  • Assists with selling, implementation and follow-throughof catering promotions.
  • Executes and supportsMarriott’s Customer Service Standards andhotel’s Brand Standards.
  • Executesand supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g.,generating proposal, writing contract, customercorrespondence).
  • Participates in and practicesdaily service basics of the brands
  • Establishesthat the property implements a seamless turnover from sales tooperations and back to sales while consistently delivering highlevel of service.
  • Monitors the effectiveresolution of guest issues that arise as a result of the salesprocess by creating mechanisms to channel issues to propertyleadership and / or other appropriate stakeholders.
  • Monitors successful performance by increasing revenues,controlling expenses and providing a return on investment for theowner and Marriott International.

  • Contracts and closeslocal catering and social business and confirms that business isturned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality servicedelivery.
  • Achieves catering revenue goals byactively up-selling each business opportunity to maximizerevenue.
  • Implements the brand’sservice strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects ofthe sales process and drives customer loyalty by delivering serviceexcellence throughout each customer experience.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet businessneeds.
  • BuildingSuccessful Relationships

  • Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels(e.g., Sales Office, Market Sales) to establish coordinated salesefforts that are complementary and not duplicative.
  • Interacts effectively with sales, kitchen, vendors,competitors, local community, catering associations and other hoteldepartments in order to monitor guest satisfaction.
  • Executes exemplary customer service to drive customersatisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and monitoringtheir satisfaction before and during theirprogram / event.
  • Serves the customer byunderstanding their needs and recommending the appropriate featuresand services that best meet their needs and exceed theirexpectations, while building a relationship and loyalty toMarriott.
  • Gains understanding of theproperty’s primary target customer and serviceexpectations; serves the customer by understanding their business,business issues and concerns, to offer better business solutionboth prior to, and during the program / event.
  • Develops a close working relationship with operations toexecute strategies at the property level.
