DohaAbout Your Job : You will provide operational support to the design team by working with team members in the various processes of design development and service concepts by providing detailed design solutions for areas within Qatar Airways, product evaluation, recommendation and generating specification documents relevant for tenders.

The Post Holder will be responsible for creating designs that can be used in various forms of media using software’s and hand-rendering to design products that reflect the corporate identity and brand image of Qatar Airways.

ACCOUNTABILITIES : OperationalAssist the Manager Product Design and Branding with establishing a vision for the product or design by selecting colours, images, textures and shapes to create layouts for different forms of media, create a visual representation of ideas and concepts representing Qatar Airways’ brand value.

Maintain awareness of current design trends and influences with competitor airlines and benchmarking the same by employing colours, typography, illustration, photography, animation, various print and layout techniques when designing for assigned projects.

Develop concepts, graphics and layouts for product illustration, company logos and websites, ensuring that the Brand and design fundamentals are preserved, along with being creative.

Liaise with marketing and suppliers along with other members of Design team in order to receive uniform briefs on the yearly marketing strategies to enable emphasis on the QR brand image acounnd be in sync with desired projection of the corporate identity.

Under the guidance of the Line Managers, prepare prototypes using specialist computer software’s and CAD : computer-aided design technology to illustrate concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, typography size and style, and related aesthetic concepts for Brochures, Menu cards (Inflight), Posters, Roll-ups and print advertisement for Qatar Airways and subsidiaries (on special requests).

Collaborate with other design specialists in the team to design Menu cards, Poster, Roll-ups and presentations for Inflight services, to enable a blend of design ideas that seamlessly flow with the concepts of the aircraft interiors and inflight merchandise and products, being true to the Qatar Airways’ brand in terms of colours style and projection.

Liaise with other stakeholder departments and vendors for printing services and sourcing outside agencies, art services, printers, suppliers, paper vendors and techniques to fit the design best aesthetically and within the set budget.

Define Project requirements such as project time lines, schedules, type of media and quantity of deliverable pertaining to scheduled assignment.

Attend meetings with the Management and Design team to understand and assemble initial ideas for the project. Provide suggestions to relevant teams about Brand depiction though print media and web design.

Preparing and proofreading proposals to the Line Manager and Senior Management to receive approvals and feedback on the amendments to be made before finalizing art work to be printed.

Coordinate work flow with the design team members such as Product Photographer, Equipment Specialist and other Design Specialists in order to assist in the initiation of design elements for relevant areas.

DevelopmentTake responsibility for own ongoing personal development and growth of expertise.Train and develop other employees, for proper succession planning and risk management.

Assist in the response to any emergency or a major operational disruption affecting Qatar Airways or its subsidiaries, including support of the Qatar Airways Special Assistance Program.

Train Qatari staff in the duties above.Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the DepartmentOperational SafetyEnsure full awareness of work health and safety requirements and expectations in order to minimise health and safety risks for self and colleagues.

Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to guarantee employee safety, security, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality service with a responsible environmental attitudeTake a direct and personal interest in reported injuries, incidents, near misses and hazards to ensure that appropriate reporting, investigation and response is being achieved.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS : Qualifications : EssentialBachelors Degree or equivalentDegree in Graphic Design - PreferredDegree in Communication or Media DesignPrevious Experience : EssentialSpecialist - 5 years of job - related experience required.

Preferred Graphic Designer / Media DesignerJob Specific Skills : EssentialCreative, well organized should possess the ability to work collaboratively, meet deadlines and work well under pressureProficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator PreferredHighly experienced in photo editingGood knowledge and understanding of photography, textile design, industrial design and print productionBroad knowledge of product material types
