We are looking to speak with an experienced Lead Piping and Layout Engineer Job Role The Lead Piping and Layout Engineer will oversee / monitor the EPC Contractor Mechanical Layout and Piping Engineers in the execution of mechanical engineering aspects of all plant piping and mechanical layout.
This includes overseeing the EPC Contractor mechanical design to ensure technical and design integrity of the piping. The Lead Piping and Layout Engineer is to ensure that all EPC Contractor mechanical work is carried out in accordance with applicable codes and standards within the boundaries of the Project Basis of Design.
The Mechanical Layout / Piping Engineer is also required to ensure that efficient transfer of mechanical piping design / mechanical layout and engineering aspects are maintained and carried forward from earlier project stages to the later project stages.
The Mechanical Engineer’s role covers the FEED phase through to detailed design, construction, commissioning, start-up and eventual handover of plant to Employer.
This role will transfer to the Aqaba site during the construction phase. ·Assist in definition of mechanical piping and mechanical layout project scope of work for handover to EPC Contractor at start of project phase.
Monitor and oversee of EPC Contractor mechanical piping design / layout activities to confirm : ·Correct piping selection and arrangement for the process and mechanical duties.
Piping stress dossiers have been compiled to demonstrate acceptability of piping design.·Contractor design documentation status to ensure works are to schedule and to desired quality.
Oversee and review production of EPC Contractor deliverables including : - Drawings and isometrics- Datasheets and specifications.
Requisitions and purchase orders. J o b Context General ·Ensuring open channels of communication with EPC Contractor, and all relevant PMC subject matter experts.
Having detailed understanding and appreciation of the work scope.· Review design with knowledge of the engineering design sequence, and discipline interaction.
Able to develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions through project systems.·Monitor EPC Contractor progress and keep Engineering Manager informed as to status.
Related Directly To Category / Skill Set / Role In Mcc ·Collate all key mechanical piping documentation / software programs required for handover to EPC·Contractor at start of project phase.
Provide definition of the mechanical piping design and mechanical layout scope of work to the Engineering Manager for handover at start of project phase.
Provide technical assistance to EPC Contractor when required.·Participate and contribute to tendering process for EPC Contractors.
Review all EPC Contractor piping design documents for compliance with Employer requirements and expectations, project codes, standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Participate in EPC Contractor technical bid evaluations for piping.·Participate in relevant EPC Contractor design / safety reviews e.
g. Value Engineering, P&ID reviews, HazOps etc.·Provide prompt responses to actions from EPC Contractor design / safety reviews or other contractor queries.
Ensure timely response to, and implementation of, actions from design / safety reviews.·Assist Engineering Manager in preparing for meetings and reviews, and follow up as needed.
Assist Engineering Manager in review of mechanical piping related variation orders change orders and deviation requests.
Attend Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests when required.·Attend major equipment pre-inspection meetings as required.
Prompt reporting of all known design changes to the Engineering Manager.
Qualifications / Trainings :
1st degree qualified in Mechanical engineering. Eligible for membership of recognised professional engineering body.
Evidence of training in piping and layout techniques, O&G industry piping standards, and safety requirements for offshore installations, inclusion explosion mitigation design.
Evidence of external and internal technical training. Evidence of supervisory training and interpersonal skills training.
Experience / Competencies :
Minimum 15 years’ in the design and engineering of offshore installations with 3 to 5 years involvement in brown field engineering and offshore survey techniques and information gathering and use.
Experienced in the use and application of onshore and offshore piping standards. Minimum of 5 years Lead experience.
