  • Planning for instruction at theyearly, unit, weekly and / or daily level implementing schoolmandated programs, strategies of instruction and assessment to workwith students to achieve the Learning Standards of the BritishColumbia Canada Ministry of Education Curriculum
  • Using effective teaching strategies, learning andprofessional resources available for the grade to supportinstruction within curriculum guidelines and with the use of schoolmandated instructional frameworks and programs to createopportunities for differentiated learning for students withdifferent skill levels or learning styles
  • Providing enrichment events and activities including butnot limited to field trips, showcases, concerts, plays, andproductions.
  • Events may be organized at a class level and / or aschool-wide level

  • Communicating assignmentsand objectives to students in a well-organized manner, using clearand precise language
  • Sending homeworkassignments that are an extension of clearly defined schoolactivities, appropriate to the age, ability, and independent levelof students, to provide opportunities for students to enrich, applyand review lessons and practice skills they have learned, includingopen-ended student activities
  • Diagnosing,instructing and evaluating the specific needs for students who arestruggling to meet grade expectations and seeking assistance asnecessary from the School Support Program
  • Using As Learning and For Learning Assessments to monitorstudent progress in order to plan instruction and provide feedbackon a regular basis to students, their parents and the schooladministration
  • Actively engage in discussionsand planning that take place at the Grade Level Team level andwithin Teams across different grade levels, to enhance consistencyof practice and student achievement
  • Preparingformal report cards and engaging in parent conferences according tothe set dates
  • Establishing and maintainingfair and just standards for student behavior, with the guidance ofthe school Code of Conduct, to create an effective and safelearning environment
  • Supervising students inthe classroom, on the school campus and off-campus atschool-related activities
  • Guiding, motivatingand supervising the classroom assistant, if one is assigned to theclass you are teaching
  • Maintaining accurate,complete and legible records as required by the schoolpolicy
  • Attending and taking an active role instaff meetings including those focused on analyzing studentassessment and data for the purpose of growth planning
  • Communicating concerns, ideas, and information withcolleagues, students, the school administration, parents and thecommunity in a professional and constructive manner
  • Maintaining a positive professional relationship withparents for the benefit of their children, including but notlimited to informing them of upcoming-week lesson summaries,behavioral issues, and their children’sprogress
  • Displaying willingness to understandthe local culture and handle the cultural nuances in a caring andrespectful manner
  • Participating inprofessional development organized by the school
  • Attend Saturday school, not to exceed eight sessions forthe school year
